Was at Sylvan Rd yesterday, and as a complete neutral had to say really enjoyed game again. Was a pretty good ad for game with Brothers winning after the bell! I have to admit if I was Doggie's coach I would be a bit pissed they blew it in the end. They seemed to have it wrapped up a couple of times when not very good decisions hurt them. I got on the Dog's bandwagon for most of the game, but have to admit was happy when the last kick cost them the game, mainly because of the abuse some of their supporters around me were giving the refs, and to see 3-4 kids about 5-7yo standing on sideline yelling at Brother's kicker kind of put me off. I know the actions of a small minority shouldn't make a difference, but ....
Geez I thought the young 10 for Wests was going to make day his own before getting injured, 2 tries and 2 conversions, but the boy who moved up from 15 to 10 was good to, as was Brother's 10, he really impressed me. Sorry I don't know names, but will repeat a bloody good game and real advert for rugby.

I wasn’t there but heard similar things to what you’ve relayed here. Carter Gordon was the starting 10 for wests, and I was told his going off injured was the biggest turning point in the match.

Probably nowhere as bad as the Butchery last week with their racial abuse and vilification but yes I get it, it puts you off when a small minority ruin the atmosphere

Was it his knee again ?

No looked like ribs, he got caught by Brother's forwards just after 2nd try so;), no truth is I didn't see what actually happened but it was ribs by look of it. I don't think game turned then, Wests still went bloody well for a while they just seemed to switch off a couple of times, and worst seemed to be after Brothers had a fairly serious looking injury, they almost seemed to think they had it after then , but not really sure.

Any updates on Gordon? I heard he went off in an ambulance.
I thought we had that game in the bag looking at Wests first 2 games. Best game of rugby I have watched all year. Wests are a solid outfit and took Brothers by surprise. Good quality rugby.

Just watching the Wests v Brothers game now , definitely ribs for Carter Gordon and only after 15mins , Cooper Whiteside a pretty handy replacement.

The THP’s from both teams are massive units !

Watched the Wests v Brothers game live on the big screen at home with a friend. What a game. We were going nuts. The commentary team and quality of camera and production made this a great advertisement for a terrific product.

Always felt it could either way the moment Brothers scored at end of first half. Some great moments from both sides.

You right Crusher, and let me assure you I wasn't in anyway blaming Wests crowd, a very small minority, and perhaps I was a little disappointed with I think it their Colts jumping around behind the goalposts before the last kick, I know it just young fellas having a bit of fun, but perhaps a manager or something from the team may of been able to say calm down boys we at Wests don't want this look. I will repeat probably best day of rugby enjoyment I have attended this year, and that includes Reds games. I imagine it would of been good on the stream on TV too, and imagine Jaybor was somewhat excited with the commentary.

Over on the Reds page they are saying Ruan Smith is back in the Reds squad. So, if true, they now have 10 props in their squad. How many props do they need and what is the impact of taking all these guys out of club rugby? OK we are in strange times but surely they could scrape by with only 6 props and let the others go back to club land and actually play a couple of games this year.

Dan54 - great game recap mate. I love your neutral check ins from around the grounds.

But distracting the kicker? really???

I would say rugby and it’s supporter more align with a basketball crowd where they wave inflatable sticks every time someone is at the free throw line... your comments more aligned to a tennis crowd where they ask everyone to be quiet.

Absolutely gutted Wests lost that match (dont get me started on the heartbreaking loss in the colts game)
Anyways ultimately rugby was the winner because the filths goal kicker channeled that conversion distraction and created one of the great QPR moments for 2020.

I believe Zander, Feo and Fotuaiki are all out for the season.

JP has been put too for some reason. With Mafi injured, and Nasser being converted to hooker, that's another one. So they've been pretty low on props for a while.

SouthernX I was gonna reply to Dan54. But you've summed it up well and more........well politely than I would have.

I think the crowd was great, The Colts boys were well primed for Mexican night and had a great time. A few even ended up at Ruggers later in the evening. What is missed by an outside observer is these are two inner city clubs next door to each other, that players have actually played for both clubs at either junior or senior level. A lot these blokes went to school together as well and are best mates off the footy field and there's nothing better than banter with your mates.

Some very ugly incidents in UQ vs South 4th grade.
One UQ player seriously injured in a shocking one punch attack.
For the sake of the safety of our players, the reputation of clubs and the future of club rugby, I strongly recommend that the ARU, Club executives and coaches take these recent incidents of racism and thuggery very seriously right now/this week and put an immediate stop to all of it with a zero tolerance policy and meaningful consequences for any indiscretions.
The future of our wonderful game is under enough pressure without this mindless, ignorant and dangerous behaviour.

I watched the game back and can see why alot of people have praised the performances of the two sides and the contest that unfolded, it must have been hell of an atmosphere live at the ground

Oh hell mate, I got no probs really with getting into a kicker, but just don't like the idea of standing behind the goalposts to do it? Even 1 or 2 but just not a team, mind you I old fashioned maybe mate. I understand passion, and love it, and not a big problem, just not something I would kind of encourage as a manager.

As with reply to Southern mate, I all for it up t0 point, and I come from a small town in NZ where there were 3 clubs hell of a lot of mates etc, and all 3 were a lot closer than Brothers and Wests are (like 2 had clubrooms each end of a stand and other was approx 1.5 kms up road) just not overly keen on it being done as a team thing. Anyway certainly not a biggy, and as you say they were maybe primed already, and I admit to being the type that knew young fellas are going to get up to a bit, I just always liked them to do it away from club. I do admit the 3 kids that had to be chased off the sideline having a crack at the kicker and the couple of fellas arounfd me having a crack at ref and one did it after game as he walked past pissed me of a little more. As I said not saying there were a lot in the crowd, which was generally pretty good.

I never saw your original comment being super critical of the goal missing technique.

I actually like the thought logic though as a neutral fan supporting Wests but then changing the team you were going for simply cause it was great theatrics and good for the overrall Comp for QPR to deliver a result for the fans like that.
