Rounds 8 and 9 are a repeat of Rounds 1 and 2 (with home team reversed). Makes for an unbalanced comp which will disdavantage some and advantage others. Not sure why they didn't just make it one full round and two less weeks. As Bulldog indicated, treatment of byes will similarly be an advantage or disadvantage depending on whether you get points or not for the bye.

Just feel like the extended delay is due to a incompetent QLD Government. Not just at club sports level but tourism and hospitality industries being hit hard by inaction as well.

Reg, when did you see that proposed draw come out? I had seen an excel sheet with a Plan A proposed 2 round comp starting July 4 sent out by email last week. The Plan B comp was I think what you have detailed above. Both were put together by Gavin Head - QRU Community Rugby.

I would have thought they would hold off until the QLD government address this Sunday night/Monday morning.
The mail is that as a compromise to keeping the borders shut they will ease restrictions during stage 2, with dining/bars to allow 50 people and some changes to the community sports, gyms and outdoor exercise restrictions.

Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) has today announced an indicative 11-Round draw for the 2020 Queensland Premier Rugby competition, which includes the Allsports Physiotherapy Hospital Challenge Cup, that would see Queensland’s brightest Club Rugby players in action in August.
Working closely with the general managers and presidents of each of the nine Premier Rugby clubs, QRU game development staff have mapped out a return to training plan, which will begin on 12 June as stage two Queensland Government restrictions begin, with contact training returning in July before matches kick off on 1 August.
Club circumstances have been carefully considered, with regards to clashes with other sports using venues or a club’s ability to adhere to government regulations. Regulations and logistics are being worked through with stakeholders and key government authorities to determine requirements around controlled venues, parking rules or drop-off zones, entry and exit points and hygiene requirements.
When the competition kicks off, stage three regulations will be in place and the QRU will continue to discuss what restrictions may exist at that time, regarding numbers of people allowed at a venue.
Ballymore has been secured as a possible venue for the opening three Rounds, while the clubs have opted to retain a three-week finals series, with the grand final set to take place on October 31.
QRU Community Rugby General Manager Gaven Head said: “We’ve been working hard with all nine of our Premier Rugby clubs to come up with a solution for return to play.
“There has been a lot of positive buy-in from club officials to work through the process and figure out what is feasible for each club and their venues.
“Given there are no trial matches, the first Round at least won’t count for Hospital Challenge Cup competition points, to allow for teams to have a their first hit out, however the matches will all be played under normal competition rules with set teams of 23 players and restricted substitutions.
“Given the challenges faced by many within the Rugby community during this period, it’s really positive to be able to lock in an indicative plan for Premier Rugby that will hopefully provide our club players and Rugby fans alike something to look forward to in the near future.”
Further details around broadcast are being worked through, as well as details around when crowds might be able to attend matches as well as specific kick-off times.

Reports saying the NRL are expecting a potential world wide audience of up to 300 million for this week's opening round.
With very little other sport happening, we could see big numbers tuning in to whatever format the broadcast ends up being and potentially creating great exposure for the clubs, players and sponsors.

Samu Kerevi voted GPS outside center of the decade by a landslide over the weekend. I've also seen him having a bit of a kick down at Yoku over the last few weeks.
I have heard he's keen for a run this year with the Japanese comp still shut down, could it be with the Gallopers, probably not, but it would be nice!

So reading through the media release, it seems only about First Grade (Hospital Cup) playing this season. No plans for Women, lower grades or Colts (cannot see how all grades could be accommodated playing at Ballymore, even with three fields). Is this correct?

There has just been a released time start for Subbies Rugby, Starting on Friday 17th July and Saturday 18th July. How are they able to start so early? Will lower grade players go play subbies if there is no lower grades comp?

They have allowed 1 week (on current time frame of restrictions) for contact at training etc. the first 4 rounds will be uncontested scrums I believe also.
I believe RA & QRU may enforce minimum 2 weeks contact at training though.

My assumption is this is for all grades to be resuming, otherwise it would be pretty straightforward - the reason there hasn't been club specific information yet is because they are working with QRU on how to accommodate 8 teams at training.
The planning will have to be around planning for 100 people per venue. There is mixed messages around at the moment with "the venue" alternatively defined as GPS Rugby Club or Field 1 at GPS Rugby Club. So lots of clarity needed from above, but the QRU are working closely with the Chief Health Officer.
I'd expect that there won't be crowds. I also expect that there will be space between games to basically empty the venue before the next game arrives.
You think a game will have two teams of XV, potentially 5 reserves each side, match officials, medical, coaches and that's getting to about 60. Add to that home match officials (security, field marshals etc) and that's another dozen at least. Hopefully Premier Grade will have some broadcast to it so add perhaps another 6.
So that leaves about 20 'spectators'

I mean if the clubs aren't going to receive any benefit from having spectators at the grounds, it makes sense for those first few rounds to all be played out of Ballymore... or was that just for the Hospital Cup?
