^ let's hope it doesn't piss too many off @ Yoku. First grade did bloody good last year, no need to change too much.
Plenty of good young players coming through, don’t think they’ll miss Casey or some of the others that have left, Will Casey see much first grade behind ngauamo?Heard over the weekend that something like 7 players migrated from Souths to GPS in the offseason, obviously we knew about the Reds players, but I have heard the list includes Alex Casey. If true, that is massive, Casey is Souths boy through and through. played all his juniors there and even captained the Premier team. Can anyone confirm that?
That’s a shame to see a guy leave after such service.
Is it a case of seeing the writing on the wall at Souths as well with their young talent?

I have been told Souths will be giving the you guns their crack.

That is unfortunate timing for me as I am just about to sign on with Souths lmao. Simply out of the belief that they are the closest club to Ipswich and I'm done playing Barber Cup. 29 years old time to enter the big leagues.

Mate, there are some great blokes in the lower grades at Souths and I am fairly sure that 4th or 5th grad have won 5 straight premierships. Souths are always fairly competitive in lower grades. As well as a very healthy culture.
Come to Wests.
Direct train back to Ipswich.

I'm surprised Ngauamo didn't go overseas for a contract tbh, I think he's good enough. Not sure how Casey fits then. This would have been the same situation at Souths 3 years ago, with both of them at the club the same club playing the same position. Who had preference then?
There is some truth to that but there are some other factors at play here. Over the past few years, Souths Premier grade have looked fairly unfit to say the least. Most players know that Elia Tuqiri was never the toughest coach in regards to fitness, accountability and rules. There was a talent first attitude to a lot of decisions. Todd Dammers seems to be a coach with a strong culture and his teams are always fit. Todd places a huge emphasis on fitness, accountability and has some very definite expectations around his players. There seems to be more of a "Club First" attitude at the nest. I am sure everyone has their own reasons but there would be some not keen on a pre season with the kind of work that the Souths squad have put in.
At my guess of the 7 players that have left Souths, it is not always as straight forward as it seems:
1. Alex Casey - Redlands junior I believe but came to Souths.
2. Feao Fotuaika - Only at Souths last year after being at Sunnybank.
3. Emori - Brought to Souths by Elia and has followed him.
4. Sunia - Followed ET to GPS I believe.
5. Scott Malolua - Followed Elia from GPS to Souths and has headed back again.
6. Mike Tela - Gone to Easts I've heard. Came to Souths from GPS. Lived with Matt Gordon and another Easts bloke.
Cannot remember who else. Lots of these guys came to Souths with either Elia or Piccone and have followed them elsewhere. South as a club will be strong and the culture will certainly be a big part of the entire grades.
What has happened to club loyalty? These young bucks are too easily convinced by coaches and managers to make a move. In my day, you start at a club and die at a club.
Yeah we all get pissed off at things from time to time, but you stick by your club in hard times and great. If your grand father, father, uncle, cousin played at the club, you also do. No exceptions.
Club jumpers (journey men) are never really respected. That goes for coaches too. Fair enough if you’re moving up the ranks but don’t change clubs 5 minutes down the road for the same positions with no benefits. I hear these lads getting offered share housing and a few dollars, and all of a sudden they have lost their loyalty. Loyalty is a two way street.I have that same mentality. Womb to tomb bulldogs for life.
However I have never been put in the scenario where I am playing 1st/2nd grade footy and am stuck behind a really good player. I can understand why people leave for opportunity.
