Good for QPR if you ask me. brothers would be premiership favourites wouldn’t you say. Something weird with super rugby season starting earlier means more reds representives in QPR during June and July.
Bond University still boast arguably the best clubhouse, the surrounding community (surfers paradise) and elite education. They will find another prodigy playmaker somewhere down the track.

A smart move by Hamish. With no guarantee of a run on with the Reds each week and availability of playing for Brothers at the back end of the season in a team that will make the finals. He can slot right into the 12 jersey or better still I would like to see him at flyhalf. Good pick up.

The King wrote the article. He knows his GPS boys obsessively but probably still researching the club scene.
I think 12 might be his best position. He was excellent there in the NRC. Good mix of his physicality and playmaking without relying on him completely to run the game.

Interesting choice for a playmaking back to go... unless there had been some serious player movement.
But to move to a club where he will now contend with Rohan Safoloi, Lawson Creighton, Paddy James and that’s just the big names jostling st the club. No accounting for the colts coming through.

Hamish while talented... is another example of a lad that has been rushed to play before his time.
A season or two of consistent footy early on would have done him the world of good.
If the report is true, I still think he should have called his former club as a matter of courtesy.

I'm with Reg. He was a standout at 12. Can run, pass, kick and tackle. Has zero fear.
He will be great for QLD this year & I expect he will see little time at Crosby Park due to being in the QLD XV most weeks.

Have to agree, but he’s not really nailed any position at pro level. I understand why Reds have given him so much chance at 10 but it’s not his spot. He’s in danger of the “Hodge syndrome”. If teams are serious about “finishing” specialists he has a long term future. But I understand a desire to connect with game time opportunity at club level. He’d be awesome anywhere in QPR.

A big fan of Hamish. He’ll be in the 23 each week. It just depends how the coaches rotate the bench and what their play strategy is. Lots of media talk about Lucas at 10 and JOC (James O'Connor) training at both 10 and 12. It seems Hegarty has secured 15.

Little known fact is that the QPR clubs pay the registration fees for the Reds/Wallabies they have on their books.
So Brothers will be paying JOC (James O'Connor) fees even though he may not play a game at Brothers this year due to Reds/Wallaby commitments. Same goes for Wests with Jordan Petaia.
Guys like Hamish Stewart (& last year Aidan Toia) don't have any regard for the opportunity that their QPR club give them. You would like to think club loyalty still existed in QPR but it clearly does not.
Is this (Stewart's defection to Brothers) another case of Mr Cordingley?
As for not advising Bond of his decision - this is sadly not an isolated case.
All comes done to R E S P E C T (or lack thereof).

I believe that their should be some type of draft for players in the Reds squad. Clearly guys that have clearly established links to a club (I.e. Juniors, family ties) are exempt but players coming from interstate/abroad are allocated to the clubs on a rotational basis. Or according to where the clubs finish on the table the previous year.
This way you give all clubs the opportunity to improve through the involvement of that player at their club.
If a Reds player like Stewart wants to up and leave his club that he has forged a relationship then he should go into the draft.
This is just for Reds squad players who get paid by QRU/RA, genuine club players cannot be restricted from doing as they please.
This also encourages clubs to sure up their Colts recruitment.

I use to be of that mindset bulldog but why shouldn’t Hamish Stewart be free to pick his own club?
He lives in Brisbane, trains in Brisbane and is expected to drive down there 60-90 mins each direction?
It’s already idiotic that Brisbane city NRC team had to play home game at Bond Uni.

Not saying I necessarily disagree with you Bulldog, but I'll play devils advocate here - why should the Reds/QRU be responsible for distribution of players to clubland?
If a player isn't happy with the coaching/infrastructure at a certain club, why should they be shackled to it? It sounds like Stewart did the wrong thing by Bond regarding his approach, but if a player isn't happy and wants to go somewhere they see value, they shouldn't have any caveats on that.
I'm sure you wouldn't be thrilled if you wanted to leave your job and someone said, no worries, but you can only go to this office, because it sucks and needs your help.

Clubs also need to have respect - probs not at Crosby Road though which I guess is why the us vs them mentality exists with every other club. What’s new? Brothers recruit another star so it’ll be interesting to see how many of their teams choke again in 2020....last year must have had a huge air of disappointment given the programme they run.
