QLD Premier Rugby 2020

don't believe they are facts by any stretch of the imagination. Squad lists from the last few years will prove that. Higgers, Smith, JOC (James O'Connor). As for Simmons? Give me Rodda, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Hocking and Blyth over him every day.

To counter your points Reg
I would suggest Higgers was a rental who supplemented his income in Japan
Smith was the same until the cab incident
I actually think that JOC (James O'Connor) may have found himself and grown up and come to realise that he has unfinished business in Australia but he will be getting a RA top up so his differential is not that great.

My point is illustrated with your point about Simmons other players are better but he did not seem to be treated that well for a 100 game player.

From a fans perspective the part we think is about loyalty is business being the money part of it.

I know it’s not intended but your comments here over Simmons seem to me to be disrespectful to a guy who gave heaps for many years.

It’s in the phrasing though, I fully agree with the guys we have.

Lots of PR coming out of Newstar on their Facebook page. Quotes from players they represent talking them up.

It is a bit childish by the Reds not wanting to deal with a players rep. I'm surprised RUPA haven't stepped in as they give out coach accreditation. If the agent has accreditation then they should be expected to deal with them.

Anyway, they Reds have the players they want, minus one, and are ready for 2020. I'm excited about it in terms of player development. I do feel we need to make the finals this season. I also like that Premier players are getting a look in. Great opportunity for players to get out and know that the Reds want local players.

Just went and looked at that page Jets....Clarified 3 key points for me. 1. Reds stuffed up! 2. Will Genia is with Newstar 3. They must be doing something right over there.

Agree with the Reds looking the goods for 2020!

I can’t get a grasp on why the Reds have refused to deal with Picone. Reading between the lines, is it because Picone has so many top tiered players existing the Reds with better financial options elsewhere?

Sounds like they need his influence in Brothers juniors ranks - pretty appalling results there for such a huge club. Can’t work out how Norths can get much better results than Brothers ??

Call it what you will but the QRU made a meal of this and surely some heads need to role. Was talking with some people at GPS game today and they believe there is a personal vendetta against Picone because he didn’t give them an opportunity. Then I read this article tonight and wow! Pathetic and immature jumps to mind and dreading to see the damage this level of unprofessionalism might effect our state team without significant changes at the heart of the Reds management.

That shines a different light on the negotiations. With the dollars offered overseas you would think ARU would be wanting to put pen to paper quickly for players like Kerevi. Shame.

I’m keen to see the Reds reply, I have to admit all these 4 year deal are suspect. Even at the time it felt like the player managers being dealt with have to be prepared for unders contacts for their players. Can anyone confirm that many of the long term deals for the reds players are through “The Agents.” I’m thinking, a new Business, Dallan Murphy & Sam Cordingly, wow no conflict there...

You could only hope that the Reds are looking closely at their internal processes as to why the Kerevi contract was handled so poorly. Kerevi stayed for less money last time and I cannot blame him for wanting to get paid this time around.

At the end of the day both sides need each other so they will have to make peace and move on.

If Cordingly is involved with "The Agents" then he has to go from any involvement with the Reds.

Read that article. My conclusion.

This is all on Picone, the agent/player must understand that the reds are hamstrung with starting point of 400k and they need to wait for rugby Australia to step into negotiations.

Fk RA for stalling but Picone could of waited IMO.

Anyways reds not talking to Picone over this is a major petty grudge that needs to be rectified. Picone feeding his newstar talent into QPR then onto reds gigs is a important factor why quality of QPR is best club rugby comp in he land... do we really want to see the Picone players crafting their trade in shute shield? I certainly don’t.

I don't believe NewStar have the lions share of QPR talent like they once did, and thats probably why the QRU feel like they can make the call to cut Picone out of the process. A few years ago, this would be crippling to them.

A number of other agencies have started up in the last few years based in Brisbane and have managed to acquire some pretty decent talent
