There will be no asterix in my book.Whoever wins will be the rightful winner

Asterix are saved for dubious decisions such as cheating or blatant biased by referees which cost a team the championship.

That can all eventually pan out but it’s not gonna be a issue for me the shortened season. Just glad to have it

Spot on. Everybody is playing under the same conditions so nobody will be more or less disadvantaged.

It can be for that - but look at any sports around the world where they have been impacted by a shorter season due to things such as player/owner lockouts, the winner is always marked with a disclaimer stating it was a shorter season.

Obviously the winner will be the winner. But personally it will hold less value than other years considering you only play each team once. It's just like the current Super Rugby tournaments being played. Whomever wins the Australian one isn't going to run around claiming its the same as winning the tournament the year before when they didn't play half the teams.

That's my opinion and you can have yours. I'm happy to have club rugby back.

It will be a special moment for whatever club that holds up the Hospitals Cup in 2020 regardless.

Word of any blokes contracted abroad who are caught up in Australia that are going to play QPR20?

From what I've heard:

Albert Anae, Scott Gale, Con Foley, Alex Horan (UQ)
Richie Asiata, Aiden Toua, Phoenix Hunt, Landon Hayes, Tom Milosevic, Kirwan Sanday, Dylan Taikato-Simpson (Easts) Have heard Ed Quirk training at Easts, unsure if playing for them or not
Nigel Ah Wong (Sunnybank)
Matt Mafi (Brothers)
Samu Kerevi (GPS) Unsure if just training or playing too

I'm sure there are more

I would be surprised if Kerevi actually played for GPS - although stranger things have happened. I know he's been down there for months now, but he's easily the most high profile and highly paid player on that list. I wouldn't imagine his Japanese club would be too keen on him risking injury in a club comp.

Almost a certainty now that there is going to be healthy super rugby players that play no football in 2020.

Can’t see the provinces/national body allowing the fringe players back to clubland considering how these Covid outbreaks are going.

Just give the title to Eatts now. They’ll have a squad of talent that’s not aligned with qld rugby.

I just hope the season goes ahead but I wouldn’t be suprised if it all gets shut down in coming weeks #closertheborders

We might end up with a Qld bubble footy extravaganza of all the Super AU , NRL and AFL teams based up here.

Imagine all three GF’s being hosted in Qld .

On a serious note , couple of the Reds extended squad back at UQ, guessing other clubs will get some back .

I have heard that Reds have shut down the Development Squad. So a lot of the u20’s heading back to club land.

Yep , only players with some form of contract with the Reds as opposed to an U20’s deal still in the development squad .

Having said that , Mac Grealey and Sam Wallis are the two back at UQ . Mac does have a development contract .

Mac doesn’t have a contract of any sort at this time. Something may have been in the pipeline but Covid hit.
That’s surprising, there were stories on Rugby Xplorer and in both the Australian and CM about Mac , Flook and Kalani Thomas when they were brought into the senior squad after the departure of Rodda , Lucas and Hockings .

Made mention of Mac choosing the Reds over several NRL offers , even credited Horan and Morgan for keeping him in rugby.

USA Rugby filed for bankruptcy today. I haven’t done a lot of reading into it, just saw some headlines. Will this affect their domestic comp? Could mean a lot of blokes coming back home permanently and playing QPR.

Yeah, Mac and Kalani were called up into training to fill numbers but both don’t have development contracts. I’ve heard that Mac was approached by an NRL agent but left empty handed.

Can I ask a question that probably been asked a lot already...???

How do I watch the streamed match of the day from QPR?

And do you need to watch it live or can you watch it a later date??

Thanks in advance

if it's the same as last year, all games are streamed on the QLD rugby website, the main match has more cameras and commentary (Jaybor and Sauce probably :D) and yes you can watch full replays later on.

USA Rugby don't own the comp, they just sanction it. MLR will go ahead at some stage I'm sure but a lot of players are around at the moment and seem to be happy to play Premier rugby.

I know its been discussed before - but are things down at Souths really that bad?

Article today saying Quade Cooper has been down at GPS training (not going to play). I can understand Kerevi as at least he has roots at GPS, but Quade seemed to be absolutely ironed on Souths boys, especially after playing the season a few years ago when he wasn't needed at Reds.

His brother moved over to GPS.
