Great player, great bloke and worthy nomination.
A side point, Wasn't he originally from Rockhampton and started at Wests after school?
Dan Gorman or Luke Beauchamp (though he is playing in the USA this season) would be my nominations.

perhaps, you may be right. I thought I remember someone saying he was a Wests Jnr. Regardless, a quality player.

Two rounds to go and the top 4 is still up in the air but getting very close now - I think it will be set after next Saturday (Round 17) but it will probably will be live going into round 18.

Club: Pts; W; F&A; Round 17; 18;

Bros: 54; 12; 193; GPS; Est;
GPS: 49; 11; 130; Bros; Uni;
UNi: 39; 9; -18; Bye; GPS;
Easts: 35; 8; -42; Snbk; Bros;
Wests: 34; 6; 111; Sth; Bye;
Souths: 30; 7; -25; Wst; Nth;
Bond: 29; 6; Nth; Snbk;

Just looking at the table I can't believe there hasn't been more of a blow up on this forum as to why Brothers didn't take the shot for penalty goal on fulltime last week against Uni.

If they had then Uni would now be on 36 points in danger of stalling on that number with the bye & GPS - in danger of having a number of clubs run them down in Easts, Wests & Bond.

Is there a conspiracy theory that Brothers would rather play Uni than one of the others?

Absolute brain freeze. Why didn’t someone stop and think and pull Saifoloi up on that call. I’m sure it was Wilson looking at everyone for a reaction but just went with the flow when no one seemed to point for the goals. Did they forget about Hockings.

They won the lineout from the previous penalty that gave them the field position so would have expected to win the ball on their own throw. They probably have been used to coming over the top of teams at the end of games so they stuck with that strategy. It hasn't cost them anything and if they won Uni would have probably been done for the year.

I can't imagine anyone at Brothers wanting to help out Uni.

All I can say is that I'm happy with how it played out.

When you consider that UQ should have all their rep players back ( most likely minus Tate ) for the last round v GPS and then the finals if they get through, I don't think anyone would rather play them.

Agree with Jets, they have played that way all year and come home strong to finish off teams. Mind you the kick to win it would have been from an easier position than the one he nailed from the near the sideline and into a howling wind only minutes before hand.

Still they would have looked like heroes had they rolled it over for a try.

What’s with Jeremiah Lynch named at lock? He’s the best backrower in that team not named Fraser McReight.

I’m just hoping from Brisbane city a new head coach.. heenan is biased to his UQ cattle.

Agree with that SouthernX (both points). Also think Matt Gicquei would be in my team. AND I can't believe you Whisper, you left out the best (non-contracted) half back in the comp......RUBEN "Carter" WALL!!!! Possibly not the best pass in the comp. however (as last year) has been one of the main driving forces for Brothers this year.... And like last year would have to be one of the highest half-back try scorers in the comp. (won the highest try scorer last year in 2nd grade, by a country mile and then some). P.S. I don't regard high try scoring as a must (except for wingers), however, a guy who consistently does score tries is fairly useful in rep teams.

Another name missing is Jordan Petaia. Probably going to Japan for the World Cup... but worth bringing to light considering JOC (James O'Connor) was named in those preliminary NRC teams (& JOC (James O'Connor) is almost certainly off to Japan too)

Petaia is suppose to be making his long awaited return to rugby this weekend if the doctors have given him the green light.

what takes priority in your household?

Premier rugby or GPS schoolboy footy?

Lot of the same posters in here lurk in the GPS rugby thread on GAGR. Seems like it’s more of a community over there in other thread.

I’m enjoying having GPS schoolboy rugby in 3rd term because it doesn’t really conflict with the regular season of QPR... but given a choice to spend your Saturday afternoons. Would you go down to your club or alma-matar school grounds?

I enjoy club rugby the most, curious about everybody else.

Btw - how good is streaming technology!

Would say the answer depends on whether you have rugby playing sons or not.

Even the most diehard clubman isn’t going to miss his son’s Saturday afternoon school rugby game for a session at his preferred club, assuming said clubman is happily married and enjoys his family’s company.

If you’re an Old Boy or your son played in the GPS system you will always have a sentimental connection to supporting your roots. The passion and the rivalry never leaves you. Watching the young boys develop from GPS to Colts and some to Prems is what rugby is all about. Personally I will always get to a Nudgee game where I can, and to a Prems game depending on who Brothers are playing. With the QPR stream we have the luxury of watching all Prems teams at our leisure.

GPS footy in my house, but as others have said I have a son playing so have to be there and when you're part of it the excitement levels are higher.

I would love to spend more time out at St Lucia watching the students but it's harder to get out there. When the kids finish school I'll hopefully spend more time there.
