How is it that a club like Souths can't field a front row in Reserve grade (and thus start the game against UQ in Reserve grade with uncontested scrums) but still have a full front row on the bench for Premier grade? Am I missing something here?
The way they're talking on the colts thread, maybe Souths can front up with a few Colts boy's who are schooling all comers........ Bit embarrassing for the club getting the boys to do a mans job, but better than not fronting at all.

The blokes who came on as reserve front rowers didn't look like Colts to me and the names in Rugby Explorer for the FR bench don't reflect any Colts players. Something strange going on if you've got six front rowers for Prems, but three of them can't help out to ensure Reserve grade fronts up with contested scrums. Dangerous to make assumptions I know, but I assume the QRU is looking into it so we don't have a repetition of last year's finals debacle.

Uncontested scrums are something that the QRU definitely needs to look into, especially in those higher grades. A good scrum contest is one of the things that sets our game a part from league. There aren't many sports where an overweight, usually xxxx heavy drinking behemoth can get a start in a sporting team, and I mean that as a compliment!

I think one of the under-rated teams this year will be the Tigers. They have a solid front row with Kirwan Sanday, Sam Richards and Rhys Van Nek with solid/experienced support from the bench. They will also get Braydon Schiller back in the next 2-3 weeks. They have some massive 2nd rowers and mobile flankers/No 8. Their Backs are always dangerous and will be even better when Jack Frampton comes back from injury.
This will be a team that you have to be ready to play against and if you are aren't prepared, they will have you on the back foot and wondering what happened and the game will be over/lost. They will not blow teams away but will grind wins throughout the season.
They will be top 4 again but not sure if they are quite premier just yet.
My 5 cents worth.

They looked average in preseason.

I was personally ready to write them off after opening the season against UNI (lucky I kept my hottake to myself) cause they followed up that performance with a gutsy close win against ge Champs GPS.

They just had a bye week. Will be interesting to see how they go this week.

If they play smart rugby, Easts forward pack are good enough to keep them in the top 4. For example the conditions in the GPS game really suited forwards play and they were able to capitalize. But I think they will be found out by the top teams who have a bit more to offer in the backs.

I am not even waiting until the final whistle this week to repeat myself.

Norths are absolutely pitiful. I ask again, where is the defensive structure the new coach was supposed to bring?
Schoolboy coaching is a bit harder than senior footy it seems.

They are the Northside version of the Wynnum Bugs.
Lots of juniors, decent senior numbers but not cut out for Premier Grade.

Whilst immensely happy with the result - can anyone venture an answer as to why Uni were so poor?

Oh the value of the bounce back factor!!

Can't recall 70+ points v Uni?

Just ran my eyes over the old website of rugbylink premier scores all the way back to 2015 (which is data I was able to access on their website)

Nobody in the competition has scored more then 68 points in 4 years of Data (Easts last year in victory over Wests 68-19, 2015 Brothers in a victory over GPS 68-22)

It wasn't however the biggest margin. On April 18 2015 Sunnybank put a scoreline of 62-3 on the Eagles at Shaw Road.

Side Note: Does anyone know where they may have archived old premier grade scores?

As you would know SouthernX, the kicker for Wests is on fire , 10 from 10 yesterday , with quite a few of them from the sideline. Yet to miss a kick for 2019. Very impressive!

Anyone know what the record is for consecutive kicks ?

GPS had a good day across the club out at Souths. I thought Souths would have some good depth this year after picking up some ex Sunnybankers and a few others but looking at results their teams down the grades get have got a bit of a hiding which is interesting.

Also for GPS I wonder what will happen with new recruit DP de Lange. Tevita Davis has come back firing and DP was ‘rested’ yesterday. A few of the guys saying DP lacking some confidence after a solid pre season, even giving up some kicking duties to other players.

He is number 12 Isaac Henry. He is 24 from 24 this year so far I was told on Saturday.
The rugby au website doesn’t show the breakdown of scores, does anybody know where we can get more detail of the games??
