Are Chapman, Jordan and tuapou not around this season for norths?

Slot them in and if Norths scrum a bit better they could get a few surprise scalps.

Not sure some of these names in the wests backline are but it looks like they have lost a fair bit of experience. Paisami is a very good player however and should be a strong edition to the midfield.

I am a big a fan of the easts team as well and think they could be a dark horse this year. Will depend on if Pilz can be as a effective at 10 as he is at 9.

Norths will surprise absolutely no one.

For all their talk about improved defence, the trial I watched suggested regression rather than the opposite.

Can someone remind me of the point of why they exist at premier level when we have an actual talent hotbed in Logan sitting dormant?

Dear jilted Eagle - They comprehensively beat Easts last week - whatever your gripe which is pretty obvious - getover it - build the Logan bridge pal...Eli...

I’d rather not. All I did was pose a question Oracle, if it offends you dont answer. These are discussion forums after all.

I am happy to be proven wrong by the Shaw Road men but if the benchmark for their year is to surprise a few teams, is my question really that bad?

Why would Logan move up into premier grade when they get smashed every week in 2nd grade. North’s on the other hand have actually improved each year. Finishing above Sunnybank, West and brothers last year and beating top 4 teams

Lol not this boring old argument again,

You understand why Logan gets smashed? It's cause it's a hard sell for Logan coaches to tell quality players "come play reserve grade down at Queens Rd"

If anyone should be getting kicked out of Queensland Premier Rugby it's your mob.

I say that meaning no disrespect to the diehard Bond University supporters out there but you guys are the outlier, You aren't even in Brisbane and logistically should be playing in some type of re-envision super Gold Coast rugby comp.

Had it not been for the Bond University coming to save the day for the Breakers, who knows where your club would be?

Definately turned a corner, your clubhouse is better then what it was at Surfers Paradise, the team looked awesome in 2nd half of season. IDK how you'll go this year - just hope it's below my doggies.

I am actually not condoning any teams getting the flick from the qld premier comp. In a ideal world we would be expanding.Giving more opportunity for the SEQLD playing group to have more choices where they can play, maybe somewhere a little closer to the players out in the Brisbane boondocks (Logan/ipswich ect)

But QLD Rugby with how they have treated Logan is a bigger disgrace then Rugby Australia did with the Western Force. It's one thing to get rid of the Force to even up super rugby. it's another thing by the short sighted, incompetently led pencil pushers at Herston who don't give a flying f^ck about growing the game outside of the Private School rugby playing area.

Logan should of been in the comp 5 yrs ago. What a disgrace the QRU is.

Maybe someone should tell your coach that, his preseason interview made out he was doing a complete rebuild.

Also SouthernX is absolutely right, maybe its not about getting rid of teams instead bulding the competition. what I cannot argue with his post about is the absolutey disgraceful inaction by the QRU to incorporate one of if not the best football pools in the country.

It might be an old boring excuse but it’s the truth, they don’t have the players or the financial support

I just explained to you Rugby BB about the player issues... Nobody wants to go play reserve grade when there's premier grade clubs a stone throw away (Sunnybank/Gold Coast).. As for the financial support. They invested millions upon millions of dollars into a clubhouse facility/fields that's arguably better than any clubhouse In the premier competition. There was govt grants given on the assumption it was a pathway for the eventual inclusion of Logan into Premier Rugby.

Look ya probably speaking from ya high horse knowing the Logan City Saints use to share away grounds with the breakers on the same gameday when the old premier rugby schedule didn't account for seperate bye weeks for 1st grade & 2nd grade.. but the Saints have something to offer and I really wish our rugby community would come around to the notion that we need this to happen.

Facilities are fantastic, but government grants dont translate into the funding of ongoing operating costs in line with operating a Premier Rugby team though. Its the chicken vs egg argument though, the expectation that promoting to Premier Grade would bring extra financial support necessary for Premier Grade quality coaching/support staff, conversely though without that extra funding to make the step up Logan will continue to struggle to justify their case for promotion.

North’s had a really tough time of it today at Shaw Rd going down 49-0, they seem down on quality with the majority of last years side out either thru injury or a number of key players moving on. Plenty of firepower sitting on the sideline and it made a massive difference when Tonga and Jordan can on in the second half. North’s must be counting the days to get MCGahan into the playmakers role as they are severely lacking ATM, zero direction. West’s have a very good side however completely different from last year, they have done some serious recruiting, maybe from NZ I’m guessing. Not sure if this is a sustainable model however well done for the side they produced today, they were excellent.

Spent the preseason working with the Reds academy, good to see so many of the boys fronting up in Prem Grade. Some fantastic talents coming through.

How was the Norths 9?

Shaker behind a beaten pack and coming back from injury in Horse racing terms he’ll be better for the run. As the above post suggests the no 8 for north’s was head and shoulders above the rest, he was outstanding.

Good to see him playing either way. Hurt his knee before the new year so really didnt expect him to be playing as this level.

Wests are serious contenders this year. Strong across the park and unlike the noise coming from Shaw Road they showed significant improviement in their set piece, especially at scrum time. Park their last try as a contender for try of the year too. The double efforts from their 6 and lock were a treat.

Are there any other reports from the other matches?
