You're right that two wrongs don't make a right, & the Souths 8man shouldn't have retaliated, though he got him a good one! But a coathanger off the ball just a yellow? Nah, at least an equivalent 3 weeks.

I tend to agree with you penguin. That it’s more in the vacinity of a red card but considering that QPR don’t have video replays available to the referees that it’s a yellow card at very least.

Punches and dangerous tip tackles are red cards in premier rugby but a viscuous head high tackle would only be worthy of yellow card.

I watched on the live stream on day & replayed the incident a couple of times. The GPS player hit him off the ball & high. Souths 8 turned & punched him a couple of times & laid him out. Thats retaliation by definition. I heard the ref say that he's saw the incident himself & called it back in a break in play. Quirk got a soft red card for punching the night before against the Reds, Souths 8 was always going to get a red card for that, punching is on zero tolerance. GPS 12 definitely deserved sanction to though.

Just going to have to agree to disagree on this Warhorse. I replayed the incident 3 times, it was on the edge of the screen of play on the stream. I heard the ref say he saw the incident to & that he had an opinion on it through the mike during live play. They bought it back in a break in play. Quade tried to state the 8s case but the ref had made up his mind, more so after conferring with the assistant ref.

It was a sanctionable foul by GPS 12 absolutely agree there & the 8 got what he deserved to for some hot headed retaliation.

I'm a fan of his play this year but he does seem to have a short fuse, warranted or not.

Very true, I also think not having TMOs makes club rugby so much more enjoyable to watch because of it. He should have had a case to answer to on citing though.

Just watched the north’s v brothers game again, Duncan is a class above club players and even better he keen to play. North’s absolutey killed Brothers with their wide game, out coached by a country mile. Brothers appear to be a one trick pony, some great forwards but custard behind them. I’m sure this will be quickly fixed with the numbers and quality of players there.

I have completely over looked another achievement last night with Vuki scoring 4 tries. I think this was Vuki’s 99th game for North’s with his 100th against Bond next weekend. I reckon he would be be way ahead of a 1:1 ratio. From memory 2014 he scored close to 30 tries . Anyone got the stats? Absolute legend for North’s.

That’s a yellow card every day of the week. but 2 wrongs don’t make a right. IF the Souths boy retaliated with fists & got suspension then the punishment is warranted.

I don’t like to point fingers but someone mentioned previously Souths is a very ill discipline team.

I just hope my bet with UBET on the magpies to win the grand final isn’t ruined by some kind of hot head. Who ends up in the bin and ruins it for the 14 teammates of his on the field

Mate I think you need to look at the picture again and ask where is the ball. He was a dummy runner on a second man play. It was clearly an attack on the head but I guess he was wearing Black and White so that is OK.

I also looked at the live stream and I have to say I thought the ref handled it well. The AR was the one driving the red card and I am actually OK with that he called it as he saw it.

My issue is that the Judiciary were presented with that photo and dismissed the case against the GPS player. To me that seems like a pretty inconsistent outcome bordering on negligent.

The problem is that there is no consistency in the decisions or the individual involved in the citing process and they are usually outside the QPR jurisdiction (even In the UK).

The photo of the Fonz looks pretty damning you would think particularly as it was off the ball.

But I think you will find that the Souths #8 could have similar photos taken of his tackling style v heads throughout the course of the year v Norths(@ Yeronga) and v Easts(@Easts). No case to answer in both scenarios.

I am not saying that they got it right with the Fonz(GPS) but maybe justice was finally done to the Souths #8. He's a good player but in my opinion (if I am allowed to have one of a Souths player) he needs to refine his game maybe the suspension will be the jolt he needs.

Sef Fa’agase has gone to NZ for the ITM Cup. I reckon Will Slipper would be a chance to replace him.I’d put Sean Farrell in for Matt Faesslee (controversial?)

Pat Morrey gets the nod at the expense of either Wihongi or Beauchamp & Landon Hayes in for Jaye Thompson.I’d put Clifton Setu or Shane Kennedy in for Byron Hutchinson & I don’t think Nikoro is around for NRC.

I’m not sure which team he would eligible for by Wyatt Setu has to be included somewhere.I’ve watched him 4 times this year & he’s got MOTM all 4 times.He seems a level above.

I don't think I am Happyman - the two tackles I am referring to are both the same Souths player. There is just a subsequent more sinister tackle involved in the play following the Norths example.

I was referring to the following tackles in which it would appear that there is direct high contact with the shoulder on both occasions.

Not to mention finals breakdown - the table heading into this weekend is incredibly close:

No Bunter Bowl up for grabs. Souths have already used their one challenge. Uni won it for the first time last weekend and will carry it through until it next comes up for grabs in 2019.

Sorry didn't know Souths had used a Bunter Bowl challenge.

I think though that as the 2017 premiers Uni were issued the Bunter Bowl, they defended it against Easts in round 1 with a 29-27 win but then conceded it to Bond in round 3 with a 19-20 loss. I think Easts then took it off Bond, Easts lost it to GPS in round 9, GPS have held it until Uni beat them last weekend (round 17). Souths made an unsuccessful challenge against GPS two weeks ago(round 16).

So Uni hold it until 2019 - the issue is now whether they can do a triple crown by securing the Welsby & Hospital Cups in 2018.
