Tim wasn't up to it when he played for Easts & Souths previously in QPR - I doubt you'd get value for money no matter how much or little you pay him.

Given that Norths appear to be out of the race for the top 4 why bother, invest in the future and give a young bloke a go.

Another late surge and good win to the Eagles yesterday with Cree back in the team although he did turn over too much ball his pressure at breakdown was good.

Any final outcome of the possible reinstatement of points??? This would see them sitting right on your tail Bulldog

Easts are going to have to pull something out of the bag in their run home

I'm hearing whispers coming out of Shaw rd that big money has been offered to former Canberra NRC player Tim Cree for the remaining 5 games of the year to cover their lack of depth in the loose forwards/second row.

Look Oracle I'm happy for Cree well done to him - my only beef with it was that he was being offered "big money" to play.

I am happy for Norths with their recent success but i just hope they are not using the Stingrays model because that is just not sustainable.

Not wanting to be too high & mighty but the development of colts and the lower grades at Wests this year makes me happier than the Prems performances thus far - having said that I would love the Prems to play at Ballymore this year but ironically Norths might be the biggest stumbling bloke in that happening.

Steady on freeney, it wasn't that long ago you were looking to jump ship to other clubs (again), lets not spoil the good win we had yesterday. Steve you're not exactly doing your clubs reputation amongst the brisbane rugby community any favours by biting back to every comment, don't have a crack at another club for having enviable vision. It's the closest comp in years, lets celebrate that. All the Sydney clubs are working together to make rugby great again, it'd be great if we in Brissie could do the same.

Great win by the gallopers yesterday and well done to norths over brothers. Hopefully this is the start of a finals run, the new blokes this year from Perth have really caught my eye - great stuff matho and elwee!

The filth no doubt have some soul searching to do, one of the most inexperienced sides they've had in a very long time, but as filth said some young blokes with bright futures.

Haha all good over here mate i wasnt accusing norths at all they are playing really well! As we saw when we played there! Just found it funny the wests supporters having a go at norths for paying players when im pretty sure there players this year wouldnt have come for free!
And as for jumping ship there were a few of us who werent happy with how the coach was dealing with a lot of things. And got offered a spot at norths but end of the day couldnt leave gps as it was worth sticking it out with my mates and knew the tough times would turn around!
Happy to chat face to face if you have any further probs! :)

Bulldog, Doesn't Wests currently have a house they use for players?

This is correct they do have a number of houses for players. There is a catch to living in these houses however. You MUST PAY YOUR OWN RENT. And how do you do that? By getting a job in which the club helps find.

So before Steve double Steve and gws insinuate that players are being paid, think again. The club isn't that stupid as we want a sustainable future in the competition. The last time we paid a player he left for another club after we gave him a chance no other club would have. Never again.

Was out at norths for this one & was really good to see a big crowd for their family day. He did make a few mistakes early, but your right he did make up for it with some good breakdown pressure & had a hand in a couple of their tries. Looking at it norths do have a very good counter attack but good on brother for keeping in it and playing a hard game. Not sure who the number 10 is for norths but he is definitely one to watch.

Haven't seen anything yet regarding the reinstatement of points but if it does happen will make a very interesting run to the finals.

**Breaking news**
New players turn up to Wests due to new field and gym!

GTFOH
You do realise that that is actually the opposite of paying players. You invest in your club and players come because of it's quality. Wests is now one of the most sustainable rugby clubs around AUSTRALIA and most definitely Brisbane. Every club has contacted them in a search to try replicate what they have developed. The idea that your actually ridiculing a club for the point of IMPROVING is just beyond belief and every club side should be striving to provide that type of facilities and coaching that is available at Wests, it's better for australian rugby as a whole.

So before you say GTFOH, maybe you should actually think before saying something :)

Now now guys let's all play nice.

GWS pot calling the kettle black there bud.

All clubs have at one point or another offered players something to represent their club, from cash in hand, free Physio, accomodation & even cars. So no club in innocent of this and its to win games and build membership numbers, unfortunately club loyalty is not as important to players anymore.

Yeah i have no problem with it! Its just what happens these days and players leaving different clubs for better opportunities. A fair few players who have made the moves this year have done really well and have really flourished. Across the board the comp is very even and going to get interesting next few games leading into finals.
I haven't looked at the draw besides who we have but can wests still make the 4?

Definitely agree with you on the club opportunities, especially if the players are getting the benefits.

I believe wests are very much in the race for the top 4 after easts losing to both norths & Sunnybank, A very tight race to the finish.

Looking at the remaining 3 rounds, and with recent form and results, teams 1-8 can still mathematically make finals.

With the Reds finishing next week, and Wobblies not going into camp for a couple of weeks, the last couple of rounds could include some big guns across all the clubs which may assist in determining the final make up of the 4.

Does the closeness of this years comp mean the standard of footy is higher or lower than previous years?

Have "we" caught up (traditional lower teams) or has the top slowed down? Barring UQ of course this year.

Have UQ just carried on as they have in previous years whilst everyone around them is lowering their standards, or have they improved to another level this year and the rest of us are just struggling to catch them?

Thanks to Brothers also for a wonderful day yesterday.

Pretty sure there was more at Shaw Road on Sat then there was at Suncorp on Friday!!

Uni: 6 GPS: 4 SB: 2 East: 1 West: 4 South: 1 Bro: 1 Norths: 3 Bond: 1

Some thoughts for my selections
- Uni are heavily represented having won all their games so far. When it was hard to pick between 2 players, I favoured the Uni player eg. Harry Parker over Emori Waqavulagi

- GPS have been dominant in scrums, therefore both props were selected in the starting side.

- Tai Ford is a weapon and has been a standout for a lackluster Bond outfit. Showed his potential when playing for the President's XV

- Nick Chapman has had a stellar 2017 season and I think is in the mix for a NRC spot. However, I still think Issac Fines is the best half back in the competition

- Ed Fidow is my player of the season and I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up a contract next year

- Byron Hutchinson is strong in contact and has a monster boot

I believe from what I've seen this year that the traditional lower clubs have caught up to the others, which has made for a more exciting competition all round. The rugby I've seen being played at premier games is way more exciting & hard hitting than anything the reds or other Aussie teams have put together this year.

TrainerGB any news on whether you guys will get those competition points back?

I would pay to see this team play the Reds at Ballymore at the close of the season.

That's a great side. Gormo and Freddie have been outstanding for us this season so too AJ and Laione. Harry Parker is also playing some wonderful footy at the moment. Lynch and Hutchinson have also been in great form over the past few weeks and I'm tipping that Wests will take fourth spot in a very close race, could very well come down to for and against. When was the last time the Premiers failed to play finals the following season? Can't wait for this week's clash against the Bank, a win here will almost certainly tie up second spot. How good is club rugby at present.
