Ben Hyne was the 4. Ben has struggled with injuries over the last 12 months but is finally getting to show his abilities. They have a very young tight 5 at the filth, with Ben, Terrin Walls (5) and Tom Moloney (1) all only 20 and Tupou only 18

How come Tupou didnt play on the weekend? Was he injured?

Brothers v Souths GF for mind, sorry TT I'm sure that will not go down well with you and all the other Tiger fans out there. Both Brothers and Souths will announce some very high profile signings in the next couple of days which will really even out the top four and put both teams in a very strong position coming into finals. Only hindrance could be where both sides sit in relation to the final four. Souths are really gaining some momentum and Brothers have been really strong all season with their losses only being by the narrowest of margins. If Souths get over the top of Easts this weekend and other results go as expected the final few rounds could be very exciting.

Whatever Legaleagle what will be will be when it comes to the finals make up but I am interested in the fascination surrounding the Magpies because despite their recent stella form - 6 wins from the last 7 - one loss from here on will see them miss the 4 - hopefully Easts can put them to sleep tomorrow.

I don't think Bond can make the 4 now so provided Easts, Brothers, Uni & Sunnybank win 3 of their last 5 and Souths lose 1 or 2 of their remaining match ups with Easts/Uni/Bros then the final 4 will be settled and it just comes down to jostling for semi final spots.

Even Brett Picone points out the venerable position Souths find themselves in this week's program.

The Brothers followers are becoming quite chatty - keep pumping up your lads tyres boys.

Still a lot of footy to be played, won & lost in QPR15 but we are coming into the championship rounds where form and combinations over the next 5 weeks will be so important come finals.

Bond have the best defensive record for the season to date. Interesting that UNI and SNBK sit 5th & 6th respectively in defence, could that be their Achilles heel come finals time?

Some notable absentees for Souths this week. No James Turner, no Beau Robinson (Reds duties), no Tom Murday (still injured?), Davey Feao not in run on. Can they get over the top of Easts and await the return of these players along with CFS, Pama Fou and Shannon Walker and continue to feature in finals calculations. I say yes they can!!

Bond Uni are struggling ATM - Some players are a bit unhappy with the coaching -(selections and lack of communication) down there.I really thought hedger would have got the Country coaching role but ?????

The first grade is strong, great culture (although they got belted last week by Brothers) Both Colts sides look pretty good as well.

Beaut game at Chipsy Wood. Souths are a very good outfit. Despite the Easts forwards dominating the Souths pack, Easts backs were the difference in my opinion. Magnificent hat-trick of tries to Easts "mr consistent" centre Toby White. Jack Mullins proved yet again why he was not out of place in the Brisbane City NRC team last year, continuing his superb form and leadership for this season. He carries on Easts' tradition of first-class halfbacks a la Owens, Thomas, Raulini etc.

Well done Tigers!

Wests scrum smashed gps all day, no one from the gps front row could be looked at for NRC before Wests they were embarrassing today.gps backs were strong, the ref was absolutely useless really bad from the whole ref team. Realy exciting game shame Wests had no chance of winning. Think the ref must have backed gps.

Scrums don't win games. They help set the tone but ultimately it's tries.

my biggest issue as a wests supporter yesterday was with 10-15 minutes to go in the contest and the dogs down 17 points was the constant choosing to set a scrum 5 metres out with a scoreboard deficit and the the clock not on your side.

I wish Wests had chosen for a 5m lineout or even an old school tap the ball and sniff out the tyrosine rather then waste time taking another scrum. Wests had the ball in the final minutes and were on the front foot, had they not turned it over and marched up the field a little earlier they could of gotten a 41 all draw rather then a 41-34 result after being in a 21-5 hole.

That GPS team is nothing special and Wests could of easily won that game.

Also whilst I am not usually critical of the referees. Wests should of had a penalty try awarded to them & the GPS front rower sent to the bin.

Whoever that ref was, happy to give the gallopers a penalty try down one end whilst sending the wests 2nd rower to the bin in the process but a different set of rules down the other end.. felt a little cheated as a doggy fan.

But I don't claim to even know the rules and why the ref came to that decision. so i will move onto next week.
