I'd assume Chibba would be brought into the Wallabies squad as a 3rd choice hooker.
Will McDuling risk coming back? Or will this be his audition to keep/attain some sort of a Super Rugby contract.

Assuming they take a 3rd hooker? Who the hell knows. McDuling will be back without a doubt.

Oh woops I automatically thought it was at Easts for some reason. Haha don't worry I was refering to the Easts crowd as hostile, not Souths.
And if they market it then dear lord Brisbane's worst car park will get messy.

I'm thankful that I'm in walking distance. I've had this match marked down t see for a while but now it's a must see! Looking forward to it.

I know it not Prem rugby, but can I state right here the club in Brisbane that I hold in lowest regard?? Norths came down to Logan yesterday and didn't put on a contested scrum in 1st,2nd or 3rd grade. It shows me a club with a real non rugby culture to me, noone here will convince me amonst those 3 teams they couldn't find at least 2 props so thay could start one game as a proper rugby game. If they can't they obviously should be made to pull some teams.

Fair point, but considering there is at least 5 front row forwards out in the top 2 teams, and an extra 2 having to go up to the sunny coast as reserves for prems, that's 7 front rowers your missing so of course there's going to be uncontested scrums. But yes disappointing that they couldn't contest one scrum all day, but must take other things into account

Still find it hard to accept rugbywatch,I could handle one team maybe if there is problem, but as their firsts have had a history of pulling non contested scrums against us over last few years, I maintain if you can't field a team that can play the game you should have to either forfeit or lose players. And I know they lost the 3 games so there was no advantage on scoreboard, just something I feel passionately about, it ruins game. You have advantage of knowing you are going to do it, so can train other players to play in that position, like loosies etc. I know opposition can then do it,but most teams face a disadvantage when it happens as they usually have trained with props doing lineout lifting etc, so it not that easy. Also could also be that I an old bugger who believes that rugby should be played as rugby!

Easts were never troubled by Wests yesterday. They were very dominant in the first half with Toua and Brandon at their freakish best, the bonus point was secured early.

The second half was very dour, lots of scrum resets and handling errors. A few sin-binnings did not help the match, although they were all warranted. The best for the tigers was Toua and for Wests his opposite Eyres-Brown.

Now there has been a lot of chat about this Sam Greene player on this forum, and my first impressions of him are not good at all.

I'm not going to get into a player because he had a poor game, but the way he handled himself in the second half was pretty pathetic. But first, his game play seemed very selfish, shown by the fact that he took a field goal from about 15m out when his side were down 24-3 and on the attack. He pushed a few passes as well and just didn't look like he was running the game very well. In his favour though I thought he defended quite well.

But my biggest gripe is with his foul play. He hit Matt Brandon late (and clearly intentionally) on two occasions and then had a go at him while on the ground, ran in from wide out to get involved in a scuffle, which managed to turn it into an all-in brawl. After which he went on to have a bit of a verbal with someone in the crowd.

I understand that there are players like this (Easts Josh Parry a perfect example), but for a kid who is one-year out of school, playing a poor game, his team is down by about 30 points, and he seems more concerned with starting fights and getting the crowd as offside as possible.

Bit of a rant, but I found it pretty pathetic. Hopefully this was just a one-off for him, but he did not leave a good impression on everyone watching.
Just thought I would wade into the debate around Greene. I watched him a few weeks ago against the Breakers and wondered what all the fuss was about. Outside of a strong kicking game and solid defence, I felt he very rarely gave his side any direction and did not create many opportunities for the backline. Play seemed very one dimensional with Mosey and Dizzy used as battering rams. Little use of the left winger Nelson who has got some toe!

Sat through another tough to watch encounter down at Bond Uni with the Breakers over run by the Magpies. I actually thought our blokes turned up to play and looked like they might steal an unlikely victory - fat chance! The inability to capitalise on overlaps created came back to roost with Souths twice going the length of the field on turnovers to score two converted tries. The final score of 39-18 did not reflect the state of affairs but as history will show its the score nonetheless.

I watched uni go down to brothers.

A generally funny old game, with the young uni pack (4 or 5 colts age boys in it including the whole backrow though Conor Mitchell at 7 has played alot in prems and always acquits himself well) looking well and truly outmuscled early by a much larger and quite crafty brothers pack. Their dominance up front (always getting a few metres beyond contact) allowed Dallan to weave some good attacking phases for his backline with 12 (Gendle?) and Shipperly (as well as whoever was playing 8 for brothers) showing superb skills and support play. They put together some real Harlem Globetrotter type length of the field efforts. Uni was down by 20 odd points for a period in the first half before the uni pack began to front up and work really hard, with Lyall Fidow particularly good in phase play. They began to slowly regain some parity up front either side of half time and Will Thompson looked really good around the fringes. Scored a try and then it was much of the same until the end.

What I took out of it is confirmation of what I have always thought, that very few lads can step straight from school footy to premier grade and really consistently excel, particularly in the forwards. Gilly, Browning are two that come to mind immediately, and while others I'm sure have been adequate or pretty good, nothing in recent memory (having watched a fair amount of boys make the jump over the last few years) really makes me want to change my mind. It was probably not the best idea for Uni to play yesterday's game with such a collectively green pack to take on the filth. They are all good players and will be better with time, but I just don't think throwing them all in together was the right move.

hammertimethere I agree with your summary. But the youthful forward pack was not a choice, but a necessity. Especially against Brothers- an extremely strong & experienced pack. Also agree about Fidow- he resembles a cannonball sometimes & it's almost impossible to get lower body height than he has.

Uni has around 6 players available to return from injury next week against Sunnybank. Every club goes through those weeks where they're battling to find players in some positions to select. Hopefully the worst is over at St Lucia.

Who on earth is Sam Greene and why are people talking about him ?

Some young start up who has the old heads noses out of joint....realistically a 18 year old flyhalf who polarises many on his talent. At the end of the day if he was in prem colts he would be head and shoulders above but at prem level is solid.

tigerland12 i thought bermingham was immense around the paddock yesterday which is something i have always felt he lacks. however i agree his scrummaging was poor and i think always has been. When the tables were turned and wests were short a prop i thought it was going to be a pushover try for easts. Yet the wests scrum held firm, i am not sure of this is an indication of bermingham's lack of scrum prowess or how good the wests scrum banded together.

from my view from the sidelines it looked like easts don't particularly attack scrums, there front row try to remain like a rock in place while the other team pushes. Hence they lose as the laws of physics prevail

Red Heavy what's going on down at Uni? I saw the team lists for today and half your premier team are under 21, their was 4 colts players starting. Surely there are more seasoned (not to mention more physically developed) players in a better position to play premier grade. Has their been an exodus of players or is their a big injury list?? I haven't heard results but I imagine brothers would touch them up in both colts and prems if those printed teams were accurate.
Sorry playedinheaven I don't live in Brisbane anymore so am no longer directly involved in the club and have no idea what's going on.
I do know brothers will miss dallan. IMHO hands down the best player in club rugby over the past 5 years (que disagreement from all the easts and Matty Brandon fans). The direction and spark he gives that team is immense.

Well moving away from the Greene conversation (the less said the better), Link has said the non-wallaby reds will be playing club rugby after the Lions game. So we could be seeing quite a bit of talent turning out at clubland over the next month or so.

University: Rod Davies, Luke Morahan, Mike Harris
Sunnybank: Albert Anae, Ben Tapuai, Ben Lucas, Adam Wallace-Harrison, Jake Shatz, Greg Holmes
GPS: Nick Frisby, Radike Samo, Anthony Fainga'a
Souths: Beau Robinson
Easts: Aiden Toua, Jarrad Buttler, Ed Quirk
Brothers: Dom Shipperely
Wests: Ed O'Donoghue (?)

Will be good to see more of these guys running out for their club. Although a lot of them have already played club rugby at some point this year.

Sunnybank to benefit the most by the looks of things.
And what about the qld players at the rebels, waratahs, brumbies and force -- any chance we will see them home for a bit of club footy ?

Alan Cameron (40)
Force don't allow their players to play in the qld comp due to the bad blood between the unions. Same with the brumbies, jake wants to keep the canberra comp strong. The others are free to do as they please but i would imagine they wont come back as their clubs would want to keep up with training

Dragons had a good win over GPS. Was a wobbly old kick from Tom Lucas that they took the lead on though. 2 red cards, Tongia (Sunnybank) and Stowers (GPS) for fighting and 2 yellows to GPS during the game.

How's Danny Routledge going lately for the Dragons? I've got wraps on him as a potential Reds EPS spot for next year, and from all the times I've seen him play he's looked the goods.

Although he seems to be the AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) of your backline, put him where there is a gap to be plugged.

I actually think Bond & Chreighton from brothers are a chance for a reds gig next year
