TGS v ACGS - Toowoomba should win this one against the Church school up the range but it will be a close one.
BSHS v IGS - Ipswich will stay in the hunt with a win against the State school.
BBC v TSS - Southport should win this one but it is at Toowong so it should be a close one.
NC v BGS - Nudgee need to be careful here as Grammar are a solid team but I expect Nudgee will win all games again.
BSHS vs IGS . BSHS stunned the hapless GT Team last week who's expectations cannot meet their abilities at the moment.BSHS halves looked to carve up GT backline defence and champagne rugby by BSHS was the result. BSHS is no gimme Team. IGS have been improving each week and they showed their backline can carve up too. They look to have a Sam Walker Cloning machine at IGS, with another number 10 who exudes class and timing. Can they win away from Brassel, Time will tell. I am giving it to Ipswich who are building a formidable team each week but BSHS will be improved with new confidence. 17-7 Ipswich
BBC v TSS. Despite their win , I was disappointed with TSS last week , as I was with their performance against Nudgee. Despite the scoreboard they were blown apart in the stats against ACGS and the TSS class Full back? was the difference with Kicking and that Try that got them home- Individual brilliance. The TSS home crowd at last weeks game showed the school had spirit and must surely take some claim for their victory. BBC are playing home and would certainly have gained confidence against NC last week . TSS and BBC have now formed their own rivalry and BBC would adore an upset win- as they are owed one. BBC finished over the top of a Tired looking Nudgee last week and they now have momentum to stretch the TSS team. BBC home ground advantage and their improving momentum. I call a 21 all draw.
T'WOM'BA Vs Churchie. Chance of showers 80% of 10mm so warm 18 degrees with a 20km northwesterly wind. I am starting to think advantage Churchie. This weather will nullify the fleet footed TGS backs and play into the hands of the Churchie forward back who are not only light weight but fit- Herbert at Fullback for Churchie has a magnificent set of hands and will handle High Balls better than TGS. ACGS strong centres will also be nullified in attack but invaluable in defence and will provide excellent support to the Mobile forward pack running TGS all over the field and wearing them out.Churchie will also be very focused and hungry after dropping a game last week.
I think it will be a very tight slug match played in the forwards, but I think TGS will becoming down from the Downlands win, had very tough physical games in IGS, NC and TSS and I think their energy levels will be running close to empty. TGS are playing arguably the fittest pack in the comp this weekend who won't get bogged down in the wet red clay that is TGS No1 field. I think at the 55-60 min mark we will finally see the fatigue creep into the TGS pack and they won't be able to go with the pace of the light weight Churchie pack. Still Churchie needs to provide utmost respect to TGS, as TGS has all the making of a team who could go all the way. a TOUGH call but Churchie by 2 ( Conversion miss) 5-7. Much respect to TGS team emphasised.
NC vs BGS. NC is a class act and are a tough act to throw at home. RT loss was a massive campaign blow to the Blue and White and as a result this years team are mere mortals, capable of competing against all opposition but now Vulnerable. The BBC game showed a tired and demoralised Nudgee pack in the last 10 minutes, fending grimly off , a resurgent BBC outfit. NC faces at the end of the game said it all . Nudgee is just hanging in there, battle wearing and mentally shot. They need a weekend off via a Bye. Bad News Nudgee Bye is in week 9.
Grammar this year are truely the Dark "Blue" Horses. No one knows what to make of them. The in-form IGS team saw them off last week , but not before a big comeback to nearly steal it. The "Ghost of Sam Greene" still haunts Ross Oval and a summoning of that 2012 spirit, and this young inventive BGS team whilst Nudgee are mentally vacant, has an opportunity to Pull off another memorable win. Nudgee will need to be on their game. BGS school spirit is lifting finally and they feel like they have a real team. Excellent crowd support at home the other week. GT will be grinning in their Bye weekend and hoping BGS continues BBC good work of draining the energy from this Nudgee team, as GT focus their season towards a Tennyson Upset. A war weary Nudgee facing a refreshed GT at Tennyson - we can only dream what sort of Rugby that will produce.
This weekend will be a real test for both teams .15 -14 I am giving it to BGS (and the "Greene" Ghost on Ross)
