Just trying to get some low down on the form guide for the Nudgee v Barker match. From what I can see only one player from Barker was selected in NSW 1 to trial for the Aust Schoolboys back in July when schoolboy rugby was in full swing? NSW 1 & 2 are very well represented by the top GPS & CAS schools [Thanks RedOr Dead]. Or is there an Academy pathway in NSW [like QLD] that allows for alternative rep honours, that the Barker players competed in?Barker is arguably the strongest 1st XV in Australia at the moment so I wouldn't go as far as saying Nudgee will have an edge in this match. Barker will be bringing their full strength team including flyhalf Isaiya Katoa, signed by Redcliffe from 2023. Should be a great game and an awesome initiative from RugbyAU and both school sports directors and Directors of Rugby.
Hopefully this becomes an annual game between the top schools from NSW and QLD.
Yes. There is a Waratahs academy (Gen Blue), and various other pathways too. NSW Schools, SJRU etc.Just trying to get some low down on the form guide for the Nudgee v Barker match. Nudgee play Ipswich this weekend then have the bye for next weekThat’s the last week of the season , do Nudgee have the bye?
Isn’t QLD and NSW aligned on school age now? Don’t most kids in grade 12 turn 18 in QLD now?Nudgee should bring back for the Barker match some of their 2021 1st XV who are 18 years old now. They were a good team.
Correct they are exactly the sameIsn’t QLD and NSW aligned on school age now? Don’t most kids in grade 12 turn 18 in QLD now?
They aren’t completely aligned , not all final year students turn 18 in Qld. Those born before June 30th are still only turning 17. You end up with a large Opens cohort as it’s all of Year 12 and approximately half the year 11s who turn 17 that year.Isn’t QLD and NSW aligned on school age now? But the starting age at school in QLD and NSW are exactly the same now so noone is getting an advantage??They aren’t completely aligned , not all final year students turn 18 in Qld. Having said that , the majority of First XV squads would be made up of 18 year olds.

No they’re not. Only half the cohort are 18 in Year 12 in Qld. The QLD school’s use the financial year calendar for intakes.Correct they are exactly the same
Kudos to the GPS competition for continuing to play in age groups. It’s absurd the AIC rugby competition is played in year levels. No they’re not. Only half the cohort are 18 in Year 12 in Qld. The QLD school’s use the financial year calendar for intakes.
Stars are aligning for NC to be outright premiers at halftimeWeather conditions today may throw out some unexpected results. Big Forwards and scrum success will have a big impact.

The fact that you have kids in grade 7 playing half in under 12 and half in under 13 is one of the major reasons that numbers in rugby at most GPS schools are dropping off. Kids particularly in B-D teams just want to play with their mates. It is the only sport where you can’t do that, and is a major reason why a lot of kids from lower teams will head off to other sports like Basketball. The GPS schools should adopt the AIC model and change to year group teams in my opinion.
What’s the score at TSS and also the Churchie game?Stars are aligning for NC to be outright premiers at halftime
As I called it a few weeks ago, it will be a tied premiership between ACGS, TSS and NC with TGS as outright 4th.What’s the score at TSS and also the Churchie game?
