Well interesting first round. Here is how I saw it.
TSS are going to be tough to gauge after this week. They obviously belted a helpless BGS, but what does that mean. Certainly should not be taken lightly by BBC or NUDGEE, and they sounded a warning that trials are only trials, but now the real business is here, they are not to be trifled with. Today was a BIG STATEMENT against weak opposition- can they do the same against a marque team?
Terrace for mine were the surprise packet this week, with my vote , prior for joint wooden spoon with BGS. But the Ipswich boys did what IPSWICH does best, turned a highly rated IGS team into a laughing stock by being beaten by a yet another weak GT . AMAZING.
TGS have again shown some real spark today, and BBC had to dig deep to put them away. TGS will be a handful for other teams this year and should not be taken lightly. BBC has plenty to worry about with the demise to Churchie last week , and an unconvincing win today over TGS. BBC don’t look polished and maybe believing their own hype without underlying ability. They have some outstanding players but do they have the depth of cattle if injuries start fronting. Have their strength and conditioning been satisfactory. I think the question should be raised. A great team of individuals or a great team- lots of questions -lets see. It’s a long season.
NUDGEE in my opinion are actually the big losers today. Although the score does not reflect it, BSHS challenged NUDGEE in all the supposed strengths and certainly the Nudgee team stabilised each time, but they should not have been rocked in the first place. The BSHS back line broke through the line a number of times and their forwards were more than a handful for NUDGEE . A disallowed try in the corner and the score could have been vastly different . BSHS were not as well drilled as NUDGEE, but had they been the result could have been turned around and I dare to say A momentum shift like the disallowed try and the score could been reversed. BSHS UNCOVERED a lot of chinks in the supposed NUDGEE ARMOUR. Teams of superior strength and conditioning and drill, will have learnt a lot from today’s games, and NUDGEE should be afraid. They were badly exploited. A lot of work to do- I expected a lot from NUDGEE today and was very disappointed. They did not deliver. They need to stop believing their BS , or a team like TGS will AMBUSH THEM! NUDGEE should have done to BSHS, what TSS did to BGS today but they couldn’t. Confidence and belief inside that NUDGEE will have evaporated today, despite what they maybe saying to the outside world. NUDGEE and BBC maybe favourites this year, but both teams were NOT IMPRESSIVE today. Well done BSHS.
Plenty of surprises to come.
Real winners today TGS, GT, BSHS ,TSS.
Real Losers BBC,NUDGEE,BGS,IGS.
