Term 4 doesn’t have a lot of meat in it for the Year 12’s , maybe a mid term 3 start at the latest finished off over the October holidays .....

On TSS....
- Having an extra week to prepare is an advantage not a disadvantage in the lead up to a season such as this
- Flyhalf , Syris Schmidt won a GPS Premiership as a 16 year old joining only 3 other 16 year old #10’s to have done that over the last 40 odd years ( Lynagh , Flatley , and BSHS 2016’s Issac Crone )
-Jojo Fifita probably was THE difference maker down the stretch v BBC last year and proved he was the best Rugby back in the competition ( maybe tied with Hamish Roberts ) And he’s back.
-Add Caleb Ngamanu into that mix and they just own the critical match ups against who will be competing against them.
- Their biggest trump card will be their Coaches assuming Mike Wallace and Grant Andersen are back.
- The big unknown will be how well have they recruited the holes that have been left by Blake , Nongorr , Blyth and Lyndon ?
On Churchie ....
- Together with BSHS ( but probably moreso ) - the biggest sleeper teams of this year’s Comp
- Churchie consistently produce some of the best set piece platforms in the Comp - and this year they have genuine maturing quality. They figure to also have some of the best ball pressure and defense in the competition in their back row which also extends to their likely No 9 , Henry Wilson , who might end up being the best defender in the Comp this year
-They are going to have some size and power through their midfield in Larsen Dale-Doyle and Lazlo Sword and throw utility , Sam Farrar into the mix at 15 or 10 and they will have more than enough in their backline to cause problems off the back of a dominant forward pack against their more fancied opponents.
-The way I see it ...they will definitely beat 1 of , if not 2 of , BBC , NC or TSS
On TGS ....
- They will come close to matching Churchie as having the best set piece and ball pressure platforms in the Comp and so should have more than their fair share of ball that their halves , returnees , Wilson Cochrane and Dane Shadlow will be able to try and do something with. The big question is will they have the options outside them to capitalise ?
On BSHS ......
- The best U16 class in the Comp that will prop them up but may not be really ready to challenge yet despite having the capacity to cause a major upset or two.
-Major cultural / positional shift in play that needed to happen and DOR , Dan Ritchie and Head Coach , Michael Lucas are first class and will produce quality Schoolboy Rugby players in time . Look out y’all ....High are a comin.

Don’t know. Most of what has been put out is pretty ordinary to be honest. The original “Season” that was done on Nudgee was the best of it and the rest has been pretty naff / try hard.
People will watch it , sure , because it has become a commercial proposition but they are really paid advertisements with theme and content run ( in most cases ) by clowns. And that’s where you get the naff / try hard thing from and a “whole view from a few” that doesn’t really capture the honesty of what is , or , have any pulse that in time a viewing public will find boring as batshit / irrelevant or dismiss as contrived rinse and repeat cliched crap.
But hey .... like I said , it’s a commercial proposition for the Production Company and they produce what is in their Mandate by those that are paying the bill.
Having said all of that the ability to really produce something good really depends on the Client .
And yes , I reckon TSS would do a pretty good job

Disappointed with your disappointment in "The Season" Garry. Sure it is a not-so-subtle marketing tool for the schools involved, and we all have our own bias regarding schools which affects our judgment.
But thank goodness someone is doing something to get quality Schoolboy Rugby out there. IMO these guys (doubletake, onion tv, rugbypass, etc) have done more in the last 3-5 years to get the schoolboy game out to a broader audience than the ARU has done in 2 decades.

Hard to know who will be the Nudgee 10 this year but last year's 16A's were undefeated winners so I guess you'd expect the kid he played there would be battling it out with Benn Dalle-Court (18 year old Senior)
Nudgee will be one of the more interesting teams to watch this year. They sort of seemed to fall victim to a very un-Nudgee way of being last year and this was no more evident down the stretch v BBC on Ross when they could have (and should have) finish up 2nd behind TSS for the Premiership. With the weight of possession and peppering BBC's line they forgot it is a 15 man game and over used Vella, Pasitoa and Nofoagotoa to try and win the game ( in turns ) single handed with a one out belt a thon in traffic rather than be smart and play the space. That is also with BBC playing with 13 defenders when one of their players (Gibson) was sin binned. Yes, most of BBC defended stoutly in a "run it straight brah" type of contest but it was pretty shit Rugby on Nudgee's part and pretty much handed the victory to BBC by playing in such a narrow corridor and where their "stars" were easily handled when it mattered.
I was very surprised to see Nudgee's Coaches drop the ball with that ......but stuff like that for any Team in any Sport isn't always won or lost in the particular moment , more broadly , it's usually won or lost when you start and you are defining who you are going to be as a Group and getting your dynamics right.
And that is the art of Group Dynamics Management / Man-Management. Great case in point in watching all of this retrospectively in Netflix's "Last Dance" at the moment and probably how "The Coach" Phil Jackson was the true MVP of the 90's Bulls.
Also why Australian Cricket kicked into another gear 20 years ago when John Buchanan stepped in after the wonderful platform that Bobby Simpson had set up.
You need talent to win in any Sport .......but a lot of the time in terms of what the final outcome is good or bad ....it is all about the quality of the preparation that ultimately makes you worthy in those critical moments or not.
Anyway ......I trust Nudgee will have recognised where they fucked up and they'll fix it this season. I reckon , as a team , they'll be ready to go medieval on everyone's ass.

In terms of The Season series probably the most WTF of them all was the St Edmunds Basketball Team.
The most "it could have been so much more" was St Gregory's Campbelltown. League was so ahead of the curve with all this stuff when they used to broadcast the Amco Shield / Commonwealth Bank Cup on Saturday Mornings in the late 70's early 80's and you watched guys like Peter Sterling , Ivan Henjack etc come through .....and St Gregory's is probably one of the most storied Schoolboy Rugby League nurseries. But I don't know that they really captured the full element of it in this context , and so it sort of belies the point of who is in charge and what their agenda is in the projection. And then how that feels as a story / viewing experience. Is it timeless ? muddled ? boring ? inspiring ? cringe ?
Any and all broadcast and exposure is generally positive and good for the game - I do agree , but , the only caveat I put on that is that Broadcasters / Production Houses also have commercial motivations and focus on " a product" And that isn't always great for the game in a superficiality over substance projection that does impact many elements of the game at a developmental level, and invariably, can ( and is ) hurting the game at a deeper level.
Have a chat to a Club President or two around the traps and ask then what they really think of player agents that have got their meat hooks firmly into the schoolboy and junior pathways.

Good luck to everybody this year, and we will all see how many words we have to eat at the end of the competition. God knows I have been preseason tipping a BBC title for as long as I can remember. It’s gotta happen one of these days.
Also looking forward to the inevitable posts by the kids that result in moderator bans. Always gives me a chuckle.

It would probably be a couple of Schools that would be struggling with making the money go around and see the cost of running a Rugby program for the year as money that they just haven't got or are prepared to justify the expenditure toward.
I think there were already a couple of Schools flying close to the wind before COVID , and like the Retail sector , COVID didn't create what was already struggling / not working ........it just pulled the curtain back.
I'm not suggesting that is BGS by the way. Far from it. I just reckon in their case they would see it as another distraction toward their academic proposition in what has already been a highly disruptive year.

Have heard that Churchie will play Farrar at 9 and Wilson will move to 6. They have a new 10 and I think Phillips will be 15. Will be interesting to see what happens now that there is not all of term 2 to test the waters. They may go with a safety first approach. Will be good for all the boys to get back out onto the paddock. New season lets go.

Looks like GPS pushing ahead with sport for term 3 and including term 2 sports.
Meaning basketball, football, rugby and tennis will all be played in term 3.
Round 1 rugby due to kick off July 18.
If it goes ahead will be interesting to see how the numbers stack up with soccer and rugby being played in the same term.
