Trevor Hosea really is an excellent player. Best on ground thus far in BBC v BSHS, with the BBC flyhalf not too far behind with several linebreaks. The BBC #13, BBC #8 and BSHS #15 have both been very good. BBC's backline looks particularly undersized, but it looks like they've left some cattle at Miskin St for the game. Won 12-0

BGS look like they finally have the potential to finish mid-table, winning 12-7 against BSHS.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow was the star of the show with classy cameos from two bash artists in the centres, Tom Gilbert and Dennis Waight. When BGS attacked wide they unravelled a State High team with all its talent apparently concentrated in two monster props.

Daejarn Asi was nowhere to be seen, with Will Borger (shoulder) and Nick Whip (wrist) running water

BBC's superior depth earned a hard-fought 12-0 win over BGS.

The starting team struggled to crack a Grammar defensive line that had been subjected to two yellow cards.

Several try-scoring opportunities went begging before Trevor Hosea forced his way through midway through the half.

From there BGS got looser and looser while BBC continued to sharpen the axe.

#8 was again very good in a team performance that indicated another season of mid-table.

BGS showed flashes with a number of excellent carries, but their ability to match up against physically imposing teams upfront will prove their Achilles heel in 2017.

Hosea and BBC #8 were my picks for man of the match.

I agree. Good summary.
i thought BBC 8 (Kibble )was BOG in both matches.
BGS 12 ,13 & 15 look good .
Another bad injury to BSHS -but I take my hat off to them -all heart.

Thanks King

I was extremely impressed with a very well drilled and cohesive BBC forward pack. Yep they bombed about 4 tries when near the line but BGS won't be the only team they dismantle this season. Finally a lineout thrower delivering perfectly to number 6 time after time going over Trevor' as an option. Hosea is a totally different player this year confidently leading a very capable pack with two of their best not playing and some of the late replacements also impressing.

Full cudos to no 10 with his general play, great passing and kicking well off both feet.

Credit to BGS for hanging in and having a go - seem to be a few new bigger better players which should see them finish a little further off the ladder.

No mention of BGS 3 . He can play. Tough , very high work rate
Agree with you Garry was good as a grade 10 kid last year and even better this year. I thought BGS defence was fanatic, although they let in 3 try's across both halves it could have been more if they didn't hang tough on their line. Agree with King and the others.

BBC 8 I thought was very good in both games
BBC 10 great passing game
BSHS big forward pack but didn't really show a great deal of attack out wide
BGS 12,13,15 standouts
BGS I'm informed that Asi will be back next week along with H Deveraux not sure that any of the other injured BGS boys will be back anytime soon

Wests rugby club - great turn out and hospitality, more teams should take advantage of a pre season game or two in the future

Looking forward to seeing Asi play as the season unfolds . Tom Gilbert too . Both come with big wraps

Hamiso is special . Saw him rip the ball in contact , swivel on a dime and accelerate into space on a few occasions last year . Made the same play again in an outside channel last night against BBC only to be called back where the ref was playing advantage for an earlier indiscretion.

Did anyone watch the IGS/TGS 15's and 16's trials on Thursday night? I would be interested in any comments

Found myself out at Tennyson for a football supplementary.! :(
Managed to sneak away to see BBC 15 A put at least 7 tries on GT.
Are they good ?yes they are.
Are they hard on the ball ? no way-too many out wide runners.
Will they beat IGS in round one?.
Not on todays match-but there are some stars there at 10 and 15.
If the centre that was coming to Nudgee played- he did not stand out.
15 As looks a 2 school race.

Congrats to BBC for putting on 2 picturesque ovals at Toowong for the BBC v Gt trials
BBC won close A matches in 12,13 and 14s -and I heard they won 15As in a canter.
14 A s was a surprise result as that GT backline looks to have 2 more boys(4 all up) from that star studded Sunybank div 1 under 14 team.BBC forwards really took it to them and that brilliant GT backline could get no momentum-although "David" the 12 is special.
That may not be result in GPS -but a good quality match.
13A match was scrappy
