BBC 16A's may surprise a few. They showed glimpses last year. They put in a very strong performance against NC 15A in 2015 and had were exerting a lot of pressure until a brain snap saw a player yellow carded. There are a lot of good athletes in that side, and no doubt, some new ones, but a backline largely made up of league players meant they did't always make the best decisions. If this part of their game improves, they are capable of doing very well.

I agree. This team has been solid over last two seasons. Extremely strong but some are still learning the structures (and discipline) which makes them vulnerable at times. I don't think many from this age will be run on in Firsts so their team continuity will be stronger than some other schools.

Josh Sheridan, IGS' outside centre from 2015 (and not a noted defender, either...) is picked as an openside flanker
Paddy Hogan, BGS's ballplaying, kicking option fullback from 2015 is picked on the wing? On top of that, is picked ahead of QLD 2 winger Ben Simpson?
Henry Sharp is picked as a number eight, who couldn't be described as an eye-catching ball-carrier but a good defensive six/seven hybrid, while Tipene Mavoa - probably the most eye-catching ball carrier - is picked as the GPS 2 six?
Also, where is Ashton Watson? Where is Len Ikitau? Where is the TSS monster prop Sam Dobb? No Semisi Tupou? No Willie Malala? No Angus Blyth, anywhere? Where is Isaac Henry, the only other halfback with previous First XV halfback aside from Green? What about the two Queensland State of Origin U16 second rowers, Bullemor and Gilbert?
Are we really sure that TSS doesn't have a single back in the top four of any position? They beat TGS in the first round of trials by six-ish tries, but TGS have two more reps than they do?

Don't get your knickers in a knot King. These aren't the GPS teams, these are the 2nd round of trials to make the GPS teams. They will be resting players like Len Ikatau, knowing that he will already be playing for GPS 1. These trials are used as a chance for the lesser known kids to make their way into the GPS teams, the 'stars' will not get as much game time. Matt Faessler (Qld schools last year) is on the bench. I also don't think the teams are picked in order of best to worst, but are randomly assembled.
