No Grant Davies (BGS), I know he's injured but he will be back in time. Monty Ioane plays 11 not 14. Swap Maile and Aumua around, swap Bowen and Hunt and Sam Greene (BGS) for Duncan. Other than that, teams looking decent

selection of halves

the competition for the number nine jersey for QLD schoolbos seems to be between Ben Meehan and Darcy Eason
i have watched both and i cant honeslty see how darcy is even thought about
ben meehan is by far the better play
his pass is more accurate a quick ( darcy quite loopy at times)
ben's kicking game is dominate with only a slight difference off un preffered foot
and also another up side to ben is his conversion kicking is well needed in a team

so meehan definately at 9 GPS1 and maybe darcy at GPS 3 if he is lucky, but gotta pick up his game

nudgee props/hookers good but IGS still the better player
although the NC players should definately be thought about for some rep sides
especially NC openside flanker ... on fire this season

curtis hurt his shoulder slightly during the tss game but seems to be fine for the most part. have heard he is having a break over the next few weeks to just make sure it heals
but shoulder is fine otherwise ... on its way to full strength

eh. decent team. Goodrich wont make GPS 1 over Monty Ioane. Billy Brittain wont play #15 over specialised fullbacks like Bowen or Greene. Never head of Cornelson before, wont get the nod over Fattal (TSS) or McMahon (NC). And apparently Alo-Emile isn't as good as older brother or up to representative level? (just what ive read)

i agree but billy britain to flyhalf, craig hunt to fullback

I think the nudgee openside flanker is Christain Satui. Definate contender for a GPS 1 & Qld 1 jersey, was identified much earlier in the season but its good to hear he's as good as all the talk says he is. The battle of Ben Meehan v Darcy Eason was over a while ago, Eason has been playing at 10 for ACGS this season and it has benefited the side more than it would if he was at 9. Eason is more well rounded, a utility type player, Meehan slots well into 9 and his attributes such as passing, are well superior to most other 9s in the comp.

Don't be too surprised to see Eason off the bench for GPS 1, he's part of an undefeated side, and his utility qualities wont be overlooked by the selectors. All this talk of Brittain at number 10 is abit farfetched, hes been playing excellent but Grant Davies (BGS) is a quality 10 and has been beating Brittain to Qld jerseys all the way through the younger grades. Davies kicking game is far superior and his set plays are well drilled (apart from a few stuff ups against Churchie). Can't pick Brittain over Davies based on the Grammar performance yesterday, neither player was able to take their side to victory against Churchie. Whichever 10 gets chosen for GPS 2 shouldn't feel too hard done by, we all know the history in matches between GPS 1 v GPS 2, lets hope both boys take their chances.

Craig Hunt (NC) should be on the wing for GPS 1, he's strong and outclasses most wingers in the comp with kick returns and just general size, Kaele Bowen (IGS) is the type of player you want at fullback. He's nearly a mirror image of Beale and has a lot of speed, kick returns are particularly dangerous as he is a master of the broken play. May not have the size of other fullbacks, but speed and handling will terrorise the opposition defence, also knows how to find his way to the try line. Only real other contender for the 15 jersey is Sam Greene (BGS), who's kicking game is head and shoulders above ANY other kicker in the GPS comp, the kid doesn't miss. Lack of size will be his downfall, along with the fact that he doesn't have the speed to tear teams apart..

I've said enough, this could go for days. Very good input though Pheonix, i'm glad someones being provocative and putting some thought into their arguments, you seem to know your stuff better than most.

One thing that Bowen doesn't do well though is kick, he is an incredible athlete and can ran around defenders but him under pressure and having to really on his boot is not a good situation for him.

light, you seem extremely keen on Darcy Easton, the ACGS halfback. You have posted several times promoting his ability and after watching BGS vs ACGS yesterday I can't help but feel your comments are unwarranted and bias...

Say what you wish Collusus. Meehan is certainly a few levels above him, I honestly am not worried about the GPS #9s, theres enough quality that the selectors cant go wrong wether they pick the TSS, IGS, BSHS, NC or ACGS' halfback. I saw Eason against NC and BBC and he was a standout, wether he is not at that same level anymore or not I am not sure, I intend to watch the match against GT next week so perhaps my view may change. I think utility players are underrated though, add to the fact that he's from an undefeated team and still in grade 11 I just see him as a sound selection

And just for your information, Eason was actually selected for the CSS team last year when he attended Coombabah High. To see him in a GPS 2 or 3 jersey doesn't seem that farfetched?
