QLD GPS 2025

G’day forumists. I hope you don’t mind me adding my two cents worth in relation to the young men who are invited to go to a school, as a border, to play Rugby. Particularly, those that come from the many regional centres of Queensland and New South Wales.

QTT, to say these young blokes don’t have the "culture” of a prestigious GPS school, you’re probably right, as they haven't had to wear a blazer to school since prep, and their old school might not have the traditions of their new one, but this is not their fault. There just aren’t any GPS schools in Gladstone, Dimbulah, Hervey Bay etc. This lack of said "culture" however does not translate to a lack of drive and/or determination to win a comp for their school. What many parents of these schools do not realise is that these borders do not get a free ride when they move to a GPS school. These men have given up a hell of a lot!!! Family, all existing school friends and rugby team mates to chase a dream. One, to win a GPS comp and two go on and play high level rugby. These are opportunities that are not afforded to those boys living in the regional towns of Queensland where Rugby struggles to survive, unless these boys make the sacrifices and move.

So, discount their drive, determination, skill and character at your own peril!!! They may not be as adept at tying a half Winsor as their classmates but when it comes to making sacrifices, they know all about it.

I think Tony should keep his monday thoughts to himself cause I have heard it all.

TGS aren't the strongest GPS rugby school and I don't challenge that at all, however the boys in blue and gold play for the badge. Since 2022 TGS have changed their approach to GPS rugby, placing 3rd in 2022 and 2nd in 2023. In 2024 it wasn't the boys year yet it should be kept in mind there was only 5 year 12s in that team and the goal had always been build a team for the 150th year anniversary. So here we are in 2025, TGS's anniversary year. With the likes of Cowboy's signed Myles Rosemond, Adam Davis (Rabbitohs) and the big fella Rhymen Tusi (Western Force) leading the school in their final year. I am not saying TGS are guaranteed premiers but I know the boys in blue and gold will put up a fight this season to honour the schools 150th.

I love this. Friendly FORUM discussions, and I can 100% get around your argument

Hey everyone,
I’m new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I’m really keen on GPS rugby and have been following the comp pretty closely. I'm especially interested in the younger age groups this year (U13–U15) and was wondering which schools are looking strongest in 2025 so far.

Welcome to the forum,

My first post in this forum but big contributer to last year's one. To answer your question, I've heard that the Terrace 15As are really strong this year. Got a lot of depth into their B team as well. Some new faces into the squad this year, including the new 'butcher'. This team is back this year for redemption.

Yes I've heard good things about the Terrace 15s this year, looking like the best team Terrace has had in a while. After a strong season last year only just going down to Nudgee on the bell I am expecting big things from the men in Red and Black.

From looking around at teams in the u15 competition Gregory Terrace look extremely strong with Manu, Stanbury (best forward reds competitions u14) and Birkett being new arrivals to the Terrace team will be one to look out for. Not to mention the likes of Tom nasser, liam clancy and Will carro . Nudgee looking strong, with some hard choices to make within selections. Will be interesting to see how the two teams go head to head in the up coming trial. TSS and TGS also bringing in some fresh new faces, definitley two teams to lookout for aswell.

Yes, have heard there are plenty new faces this year at Terrace. Not surprising that TSS and TGS continue to bring in scholarships, but will they be able to turn around what was such a poor season last year for both teams?

TGS, with some new boys in 15s and more to come at the end of this term. They only won 3 games last year so keen to see how they go this year with some new fellas. Ipswich grammar strongest side in the 15s, full of imports and brought in more this year.
