Is there a possibility that one of Souths, Sunnybank or Norths (Promotion) looks to recruit Dan Richie to their premier grade jobs?
Hard to argue the impact he’s had on absolute cellar dwellers of the past decade to the point where they were arguably one of the best if not the best team on their day this year.

Pretty sure he was DOR at Lauries and BSHS so he'd have a lot of familiar relationships at Chipsy Wood, that would be my guess. Norths will look pretty stupid if that happens though.

What a massive weekend of games though!
Bond v Easts
Wests v Souths

Both these games will have a massive impact on the final 4 make up - I see Mason Gordon has been named in 1st Grade for Wests, I'm sure their coaches would have been banking on having him this weekend; after seeing those highlights from last week though I can't see them toppling Souths, although John Bryant playing 1st Grade for Souths brings them back to the pack a bit also, he's been massive for them this year!

For those that are interested, we are also hosting UQ and Sunnybank are hosting Brothers.
Wouldn't be surprised if

Bond beat Easts
Souths beat Wests

which would leave a chance for Norths to play finals.

Souths look to be missing their regular 9 and 10.

wests just had a good convincing win against souths. 45-12

will be sweating on Zac Hough being ready for the finals… looks like he picked up a ankle sprain.

so we have some interesting match ups this week.

Brothers (1) V UQ (2) on Saturday at Yoku Road.

Easts (3) v Wests (4) on Sunday at Sylvan Road.

Any pundits game to throw out early predictions?

I’ll need to see the wests lineup first. That colts 1 east team has some exceptional talent of fringe super rugby level (Annan & Roiri) plus the bulldogs had a massive blow to their campaign on Saturday when Zac Hough was spotted hobbling on crutches. Hope the dogs win, but they probably won’t be favourited.

brothers has been on a freefall in second round. They did win on weekend but, tune up game against dragons < UQ tune up game against GPS… I will pick UQ.

Wests seem unlikely - they have limped into finals and Norths gave them a thrashing only 2 weeks ago. Granted that Norths are strong this year but you don't often win premierships after losses of that size 2 weeks before finals. Easts to beat Wests this week and Brothers to come right and beat UQ and then go onto win the premiership after that. Against UQ or Easts (probably UQ)

UQ to beat Bros by 5 - 7
Easts to beat Wests by 15-20

Bros vs Easts in the Prelim down to the wire (maybe Easts by a whisker)

Any one of these could win all have proved themselves up to the task on any given day. UQ vs Brothers will be a cracker and I think the Brothers lapse during the tail end of the season will only spur them on. Brothers by 7
Easts to win against Wests in a tight one. I think Easts could be the smokey for the premiership. Over the next three weeks there is going to be some big games.

I think Brothers might have a bit more in them points-wise than Uni. Uni rely more on set piece and field position through Lynagh. But really a toss of a coin type match on Saturday. Most recent result says Uni win but semi finals are different to season games. Are both teams at 100% fitness? I doubt it

Easts and Wests really depends on who runs out for Wests. They have an older team so that counts for something in the finals games and a fresh, focused bench because Wests Colts 2 not involved in finals. Expect Easts to just defend defend defend and hope they can squeeze in front by the end. Farrer kicking game should counter Wests home ground advantage. All subject to which Wests team turns up - Jekyll or Hyde.

Both games I will change my mind again by Friday. It has been that sort of season.

Anyone know when Queensland U19 Team will be announced?
I would guess after the Grand Final to see who performs and who is still fit! That gives the squad a few weeks preparation before 8 October kick off.
Should be a strong QLD side and will need to be to get over NSW who will be as cocky as NSW gets!

I’m told that this team will be missing some usual man power that would be picked, as they will be touring with the Reds Development XV.
Guys like Floyd Aubrey, Tom Lynagh, Nick Baker, Taj Annan, Max Craig I would imagine

Uq with a last minute win to go straight through to the GF. Easts comprehensive over wests so face Brothers (at Bond?) next week. That’ll be tight I reckon.
