Pecking orders

Could we possibly have a discussion on the pecking order (top 5) for each position in the Wallabies to see where we are in terms of strength, weakness and depth. Perhaps we'd need one thread for each position, with the results for all positions collated later?

Perhaps break it down to:

1 - 5: Tight 5
6 - 8: Loose Forwards
9/10 + 12/13: Inside Backs
11/14 + 15: Outside Backs

I'd break it down further, 9/10 being the "halves" and 12/13 being "inside backs".

no thats my kind of thread!

Watch out, Biffo will be onto you.

I think if you want a discussion involving 5 players for each position, then it will have to be done on a per position basis, with the possible exception of wingers and locks.

So, a thread which is a discussion on having a discussion about something else. Quality.

And you've gone and started discussing the thread that is the discussion on having another (or multiple) discussions.

Count me in!

I think we need individual threads for each position, with wingers and Locks being the only exceptions.

Some kind of discussion relating to the skill set for each position (maybe a hierarchy of skills) would be appropriate too....it is one thing to rank tight head props 1-10, but it would be interesting to discuss why one player is higher in the pecking order than another. To me, some positions are pretty straight forward (eg Locks, Wingers, Fullbacks, Outside centres), but others are more diverse in style, especially with the new interpretations (eg 6, 7 - do we still want a fetcher?, 10, 12 - do we want a 2nd 5/8 or a more 'traditional' Inside Centre?).

Let's get the pecking orders and then analyze the mixes.

PS - when are you going to start the locks thread? :)
