I havent seen a game but just reading around theres alotta hype around him, anyone thinks he'll have a chance either soon or in the future? be the first aloys old boy to become a wallaby in over 100 years if im correct, and even then it was a guy who left to the prissy pinks of hunters hill for the last years of schooling

In the future I reckon he's a cert. Looks to have a very good head on his shoulders and enough pace to be a threat in attack. Should be solid at the back and able to play a good counter.
Whether it will be soon it's hard to say, but I think the type of player Robbie Deans will be interested in.

who is 'aloy' and why does it deserve its own thread

Can someone please explain to me in words of one syllable why this matters a stuff to anyone but a private school person keen to promote the virtues of privilege? What is the importance, except to reinforce the truth that if you want to be a wallaby you'd better go to a private school?

In "words of one syllable"? What does that even mean?

For starters there is not one problem with people take pride in where they attended school and secondly not every privet school goer has money.

This thread highlights the lack of wallaby's from a particular privet school. This is the exact opposite of discussing why being a wallaby is linked with private schooling.

An idiot is an idiot regardless of the school he or she attended. You sir have gone a long way to convince me that is exactly what you are.

It doesnt matter even to them, but its a matter of pride for any aloysian instilled with pride for their school that someone can actually make the wallabies. more people from many public schools have represented for australia than at st aloysius, in fact the school is known for being the school everyone can beat (except for cranbrook) in sydney.

in any case why should we not be proud of such a thing because it proves a point that rugby is reinforced by the private school sector. bringing this issue to the forefront would rather be a greater ideal, as to inspire the ARU, NSWRU, QRU and ACTRU to approach more public and catholic schools to play rugby.

Cerise man! Get it right.

Hehe. His chances are a lot greater having donned the C&B!

But as you were on the public vs private yawnfest......

"It is good since a fair chunk of rep guys came from there. School pride is good too and stuff."

There you go. I hope you can understand it.

According to WordCalc.com I managed it in 1 syllable per word

I enjoyed this.

People need to understand Private V Public schooling is only an issue when people make it one. Hawko really seemed intent on doing that.

It's easy to not be resentful when you are on the right side of the dividing line.

I reckon far too much attention is paid to private schools and far too little on developing rugby in state schools. But to be fair, you can't ignore the grass roots of your game, even if they are unreasonably privileged grass roots.

I would love to see more rugby development in state schools.
It only really occurs in smaller country towns if there is a teacher who is a rugby tragic. Fortunately my home town had two (one from each high school) and the club's junior ranks were quite successful.

I think even though there are state schools which play rugby there are many who would be hesitant as they're sporting curriculum is controlled by mungos (it sounds like amungo conspiracy theory doesnt it, sorry). also i think it can be achieved if the ARU inspires madass teachers to do it, look at south granville producing TPN. so initialisation of rugby programmes needs to be optimised in order to get the ARU to start paying attention, otherwise its truly justified in reinforcing its current player base.

I'm currently studying to be a primary teacher and during the various placements I have ad I have only ever seen League and AFL turn up to sports sessions at school. Sure there isn't much difference at early stages between league & union but at least they are getting out there.
