NZ missing eight players to injury plus young Koroi was pretty much only on loan from Otago & has gone back to XV's so there's three newbies in our squad for Paris (last three in list):

Comparing the current Aussie 7s team to the last team that won a series event in 2012, that the strength of the team hasn't improved like expected with the new pathway of an olympic sport. We're not attracting better athletes or high profile players (excluding Henry Speight last year)

Stannard the best for captain and he wants to stay in the team
We're also going through a substantial rebuild after a substantial amount of the squad moved on after the Olympics.
I think some of the current young players coming through are good and getting Lewis Holland back from injury next year would make a huge difference to this team.
If we could trot out a team this year of:

Hutchison
Porch
Stannard
Malouf
Myers
McNamara
Kennewell
We'd probably go pretty well.
Hopefully Hutchison is the only key player that moves on after this season.

Killing worth has been their best pig this year
He should probably be in ahead of Malouf.
I think the ceiling on Parahi and Myers are higher though.

Must have missed an earlier post on this, so please enlighten me if you can, cheers in advance
Could have been a good period for the Aussies back then. Injuries, good players moving on from other teams, some teams weaker etc. All helps your team to do well. South Africa is not as strong at the moment as they once were and our Aussies girls have good competition with Canada and NZ. Canada beat them 33 /0 last semi.
