What is the point in keeping Horne, McCabe and Fainga'a in the squad, the three of them can't honestly be expected to play in the finals as none of them have the versatility to come off the bench in the comparison to someone like O'Connor. Barnes has already made his case for the 12 jersey and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is looking more and more likely for the 13 jersey, add to this the return of Ioane and it is unlikely that even two of these blokes will get a run.. let alone be fit in time.

I'm not going to guess who, but I think at least one of them needs to be sent home, preferably Horne or McCabe as neither are likely to be fit or risked against bigger sides. We need an openside reserve, that should be first priority, secondly bring over a utility back for the Russia game.

One of these players has played every position between 11 - 15 this year...

If all 3 were fit and one had to go it should be Fainga'a...

The problem is that Fainga'a is realistically the closest to 100%. Having the three all a bit broken but likely to be back in time for the big games - and all a tier above the alternatives (Giteau excluded but lets not revisit that) in terms of ability, experience or at least participation in the squad prep - makes the decision not to dump them for someone fit but new understandable.

Do I even have to ask whom? :p

You're right, but all 3 aren't and it's really a waste of space in the squad. I have no problem with keeping the one you want Slim, it would seem common sense to do so if he's fit to return by the quarters at the latest.

Did McCabe make any passes this season from any of those positions?

I wonder if McCabe was given the mascot, Wally to look after on the RWC Tour? He would have been the perfect candidate as he would have never let it go.

The tribe has spoken, pack your belongings and leave this hole of an island immediately.

Incidentally, Hanmer springs is actually really nice.

If you go much further south then you start getting towards Invercargill-ish territory, in which case, yes, hole.

That's a big call from an island that has Hamilton on it (though I was born in New Plymouth... no hate here)

If Barnes is taken off early it better only be because Deans has decided he's a starter in the quarter final.

It's true - lovely place that Hanmer Springs. Did they ever release the results on last years Bungy jumping accident or was the investigation just hushed up? http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3670057/Bungy-accident-at-Hanmer-Springs

The Monteiths Pub there is very good though, as are the Springs funnily enough.
