Not sure I like the new format: PI currently ranked 10, 13 & 16 c.f. 14, 19 & 21 in the other Pool.

I get why the Finals are in Japan this year & USA next, I just hope the PI are getting a genuine share of the revenue.
Yep, turns out I had a big whinge about this in another thread months ago.....
LOL, how convenient, hometown Japan avoids all the big bad island teams in group play and instead finds themselves in the group with wussy Canada and America to ensure they make the semis to be played - what's that? - in Japan.

Sham.

Fast Eddie's Japan United Nations Pisstake Invitational XV: 41
USA: 24

Seppos looked very well coached here. Lot of interesting wrinkles to their set plays. Good team spirit too. Rope in a couple of failed NFL Death By Murder linebackers and hello world domination.

Japan to Abandon The Japanese.

--Japan Times--

Following their humbling 17-41 loss to tiny Fiji, Japan Rugby have announced they aim to no longer field any Japanese people in their rugby team moving forward.

Following the loss Japan Coach Eddie Jones stated "we're currently operating our Pisstake Frankenme$$ Gaijin Poaching Academy at 50% gaijin but for Japanese rugby to move to the next level we have to move away from the Japanese player completely. 100% foreigners for Japan. The future of Japan is not Japanese."

Aussie raised Dylan Riley didn't do too bad int his game. They're looking rather light the Japanese when you put a few towering Fijians in front of them. They were at their best when they played a highly disciplined, high rention, high skill game, but they're just not there anymore. I think Joseph and Brown got the best out of the team and as much as some might see the Sunwolves as a failure I think it did help the national team overall.
