Yeh absolutely, the Nippon are certainly a dark horse. Victories over Wales and Italy in recent history has them well placed to be competitive. For the sake of global and minnow rugby hope they do well.

Pool B is the best pool by far. All the games excluding SA vs a couple will be interesting and close.

All three should be close, Fiji v Samoa most of all. Canada at home may be good enough to roll Tonga but I doubt USA will beat Japan.

Looks like unless you can pick up ESPN (USA) or TSN (Canada) you only option to watch the games is the live stream on worldrugby.com

This is a great game. Free stream on the world rugby site if anyone wants to watch

Big comeback from Samoa with a couple of fine tries. They're down 27-20 with 10 to go

27 all with 7 left. Ioane with a great try, he's been great. The collisions have been massive
Game finished 30 all though the World Rugby stream died and we missed the last couple of minutes :mad::mad::mad:

Anyone who plays those two teams at the WC is going to know they've been in a rugby match

Cheers - these games are usually good spectacles slightly down on the execution but a lot more risk taking and ball running.

Oh and massive units who can put a hit on - e.g. Tonga 3

US vs Japan on now, wow, turns out I took camera work for granted, wft are these seppos doing? Constant close-ups of ball, wft, they dont even show where the halfback is passing the bloody ball to, just constantly zoomed in on the ball.

Impossible to see where the numbers are.

USA, going really hard a the breakdown, with all of the possession and territory but Japan score a fantastic try untouched off a backline move from their scrum deep in their own half last play of the half.

11-9 Japaj at HT

yes, Yanks great at retaining the ball but on attack seem just as myopic as their cameramen.

JPN looking far slicker but just cant get the ball.

JPN D is impenetrably organised. Eddie Jones? (wasnt really paying attention when he coached Aus, why is he held in such low regard at GAGR?)

FT Tonga 28-18. Canada still couldn't score with 2 Tongans in the bin. Canucks won't be looking forward to the Samoans on Wednesday after this performance.

Need to be more than just organised when you play at the very top level

USA get up in the WC preview 23-18. Really entertaining match.

Japan had the chance to win it at the end but just couldn't find a way to cross the try line
