Some interesting things he had to say.
The ARU cannot afford a third tier competition, at all in any format.
Club Rugby etc is outside of the ARU's jurisdiction (they however gave over $2M to clubs in Sydney & Brisbane last year)
The Wobblies came in to RWC ranked 2 in the world, and are still ranked 2nd, so all is good.
Surprisingly made the statement that The aussies were outcoached by the Irish in that pool game

Outcoached in the most important game of the year (it was so we were put on the right side of the draw) but re-sign Deans!

The being out coached thing is only an issue if it was a KPI for Deans not to be out coached. As he is still there I'd say all clear on that front. Staying number 2 must have been a KPI though. So all clear in both fronts.

It is a shame about the national comp though. I do take the point that it would be expensive. Although there is domestic cricket and I can't see how this generates income through bums on seats. I wonder what the difference is that allows national cricket to prop up the domestic comps?

That's why CA are so heavily pumping the Big Bash, the other formats are losing money. But CA always has always had buck loads of cash because of India and the game's popularity.
