Take the three & settle/ slow things down. SamW needs to be taking charge here, too, no way should there be any fancy shit attempted for at least the next 10 minutes.

Gats is gunna blow up about this one & may have a point. It may have gone straight down from the second fumble but surely it went forward between fumbles & was never regathered?

poor Chiefs XV succumb to the Dearth Star XIX. Good ol' Ben O'Qweef manages to fuck another rugby game up the arse. If that's not a knock on then I'm Rueben Thorne's mum

Even if it went forward, it never touched anyone else then it came backwards out hid hand, stupid but I think the refs right.

It's a shame we couldn't fly in some international refs to spare us being punished by the likes of O'Keeffe and Pickerill. Imagine bringing out some of those mad cap French refs (Poite, Garces et al), forming them into the four horsemen of the refereeing apocalypse, and putting them in charge of every Crusaders match. Would've absolutely spiced up every match with their chaotic neutral stupid.

Yeah, second fumble was probably OK in terms of not going forward but defo went forward between first & second fumbles with no obvious regathering so I'd have thought that was an according to Hoyle knock on. Just didn't look right, somehow.

So Cantabs end up thrashing them with this forward pack:
Tom Sanders, Tom Christie, Sione Havili, Mitchell Dunshea, Sam Whitelock, Michael Ala'alatoa, Codie Taylor (captain), George Bower.
Looking very journeymen on paper but they just slot in and do the murder.

Conversely, Chiffs allstar backline, Cruden, ALB, DMac, dangerous wings in Wainui and Stevenson..... yet they just shovel it from side to side for minutes on end going nowhere. Not the flashest reflection on SuperCoach Gatland.....

TBF that injury ravaged pack of journeyman has a good captain at the helm, whereas the Chufs all star backs have to make do with the All Blacks captain getting shooed away like an irritant mozzie.

F*** me did you watch the game? I thought Cane was immense, if you get a chance to watch it again, watch how often it him knocking over the Crusaders midfield backs, and biggest thing is he McCaw like in how fast he gets off the ground and back in defensive line etc. I know the commentators are rightfully keen on Boshier etc, but Cane is as I said a McCaw like plyer just does the business all the time!

^ I think DP* may be referring to Cane's ref management. At this point I'd say Cane is probably a good-ish captain of the lead-by-example type but I do question his leadership at times: you just don't see him gathering the troops for the "let's not make cnuts of ourselves" talk that's necessary sometimes when stuff just isn't going your way. To be fair McCaw was much the same, ditto Read.

* edit: make that zer0.
