NZ Domestic Competitions 2019

Oh well. Had a few missed opportunities, but did well to force a Super Rugby team to work hard until the final few minutes to win it. Hopefully Wellington defeat Canterbury, and Tasman win the whole thing.

^ Tasman v Cantabs would be a better Final IMO

After a wide ranging review, Canterbury have -- following their most recent knockout defeat -- now officially been downgraded from Death Star status to being a banged up old TIE fighter that's held together by sweat, spit, and a whole lotta duct tape.

Geez BOP looked bloody good! There is a bit of strike power there, and wondering who will be newbies to pick up Super contracts.

Blues have already picked up BOP fullback/winger Narawa. Looks very sharp. The anti-Michael Collins.

Not getting M10 Final on TV so if anyone's watching score updates would be greatly appreciated (& there's people on here who make the alleged pros at NZH & stuff look like amateurs so I'd far rather read what you guys think than some mayaswellbeabot.
(flattery, so they say, is often effective :))

Good to see that at least there one tenuous link to the mighty Nua in the awards, Sarah Hirini is at least married to son of Nua's most capped player, and former Athletic man! ( grasping at straws)

2020 Heartland Championship has been cancelled.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby...ncelled-as-nz-rugby-feel-the-financial-strain

Sad but inevitable given they'd previously canned community rugby.

EDIT: National 7's & U-19's also cancelled for a total saving of $20Mn.

Stoush brewing as to whether Super Rugby or M10 will have priority once rugby resumes, each obviously arguing it should be them but just as obviously there ain't gunna be time for both. Personally I'd go M10 if it's doable, better to have ~420 earning some kinda living than ~150 on half wages if they're lucky & the rest gone back to being teachers, cops, mechanics, plumbers, builders etc & potentially giving the game away altogether.

If neither Super Rugby nor M10 are played it'll be NZ's first year with no first class rugby since 1916.
