Did you get footage of the ISA prop making a 70m run for the try line, ball in hand, got within less than half a foot of the try line and nearly got his head ripped off by the GPS fullback?

That was a professional foul and should have been a red, or at least a penalty try. Instead and yellow and five minutes in the bin - not really a deterrent.

Apart from that, excellent refereeing and well done to the GPS boys for the win. ISA gave it all they had and it was the superior training from the best rugby union coaches that having lots of money can buy in Sydney, that got the GPS boys over the line.

Thanks to Knox College for an excellent tournament over the weekend at their Carugal Oval.

"Seems highly unlikely"

I think Shane meant "deliberate and pre-meditated" rather than "professional" but I think you knew that Inside Shoulder! All the same, I was at the game and the player fouled was down almost as long as the sin binned player was out. Go figure!

Thanks for putting that up Sidesteppa - video evidence at 5.49 that the Presidents #15 made no attempt to tackle the ISA #1 in a legal manner. Should have been a red.

That's a surprise because that ref must have trained in the old wild west and is more trigger happy than most - he'll give a yellow to the captain for asking a question.

Good highlights package - summed up the game well. All up a talented set of boys, with some good thinking and game-play by the Pres XV as they capitalised on handling errors.

Cute dog at half-time - neat editing!

Such a shame that so many good and skilled boys miss out on top level experienced coaching that as previous comment said only money will buy, because they don't have the money to go to GPS schools. A double headed sword as they won't even get a look in with selections either.

It is true that there are numbers who miss out at this level but my experience is that they catch up again at Colts level.

Predicted NSW U16??

Any speculation on NSW Schools needs to be cognisant of what is happening with the Sydney Juniors selections. There will be the traditional bunfight over selections between Sydney Juniors and NSW Schools who are essentially selecting from the same pool of kids.

Although there will be fewer "crossover" kids as there has been in the past when there was two options for a ticket to the National Under 16's Championships, there will be need to be some horse trading over availabilities for the better athletes that are eligible for both Juniors and Schools.

Just trying to get my head around the different teams/squads that are selected from the various representative weekends. Are the Sydney Junior teams the ones selected from the June long weekend games?

And is NSW Schools the teams/squads selected from the weekend at Curagul Fields? From the program, it seemed there will 3 selected? And what does that lead to?

Apologies for all the questions.

Langers:

The JRU team is picked from firstly the June long weekend State Champs but
more from the Sydney Metropolitan trials where MWZ/MNZ/MSZ & Baa Baa's play on July 11 & 12

Whereas schoolboys are selected from the weekend at caragul as well as watching boys each weekend (ISA, GPS & CAS)

If the U/16 All Schools team is selected from the weekend at Caragul and from watching boys each weekend (ISA , GPS , CAS ), do the selectors also travel and watch boys from outer Sydney (club rugby) area or country area or public school rugby games? I would think not.
The team selection should be fair to all, no matter who they play for, where they go to school, who they know. Let's promote openness and consistency for all boys, so that rugby can be seen as above board and politics (I wish) and it is the game to play no matter where you come from.

NSW Country are also involved in the trials on the 11/12th July. They picked a squad of 41 over the June long weekend and will finalise there final 23 during this weekend.

Excerpt below from NSW Country email regarding team announcements may provide some clarity (or further confusion). Why don't they ask the players who they would prefer to play with??

The U/16 final 23 will not be announced until Wednesday the 15/7/15. This will happen in conjunction with the naming of the NSW All Schools U/16 and Sydney U/16 so any players who may be named in both Sydney/Schools or Country/Schools will go into a player ballot where they will be placed into one side only. This is done via voting system with Schools having first vote in 2015 for any players that cross over. NSWCJRU will attend a selection meeting with NSWSRU and SJRU on the 15th where the three teams will be sorted out. Hopefully there will not be any 'crossover' players, but rest assured, if there are, they will be dealt with fairly.

The better team won on the day, however for the first 20 minutes the ISA boys were getting stuck in and probably outdoing the GPS boys in the physicallity contest in the forwards. Poor errors by ISA, a intercept try against the run of play, really put a dampner on the lads.

The GPS guys outplayed the ISA in the backs, were slicker with their passing of the footy and generally executed better. Where as the ISA boys certainly matched them in the forwards, however made some basic errors, poor back line passing etc which GPS capitalised on.
