I agree in general with most , if not all , of the assessments .
I must say however , that I felt very sorry for Clunies-Ross , in both the CHS game & this game in particular , stuck out in the wilderness with
little opportunity to show his ability.
I hope the selectors give him a chance to show his wares at fullback , in one of the future games .
He is an exciting player to watch , & as LG said above ,it would be very interesting to see him in a team such as GPS .

Very true! Could not agree with you more!

All the people i have talked to that were at the games, two of them are very anti-Deegan and pro-Horowitz, agree that Deegan was the best 10 on the day. Agree with Lee that moving Pulver and Deegan to the 3s could be too allow them a half in 1s. Also told that Barclay and Redden were probably the best centre pair of the day.
And the other side of that is that it lets selectors have a look at the excellent Kings flyhalf Tulloch play at the Twos level. I rate him. Also they can look at Lussick at that level. I was surprised that the GPS selectors had him as the 4th ranked scrummie, only.

Tulloch's boot may have also got him there, I think he slotted 5 or 6 on the day.....more than all others combined!!!

nice analysis pine. From recent trials the team will look something like this IMO:

1 Robertson
2 Wilson
3 O connor
4 Rorke
5 Phillip
6 Dempsey
7 Murphy/Randall
8 Whitely
9 Natoli
10 Horwitz/McIntyre
11 Foketi
12 Milne
13 Barclay
14 Jones
15 Kellaway

I understand that Stewart will be available.

there is no way that tullochs boot got him their! 5 or 6 conversion from a score line of 97 is weak!

I like to watch

5 or 6 out of 17 odd is not that good is it?
From memory, just about everyone had a go at kicking, so that stat is not owned by any one individual.
Couldn't say who actually took the successful ones, but there were plenty that tried and failed

I do not comment much either, but I read many of the posts on here and I have watched a lot of rugby. I refer to the comment I have made in the thread in regards to Bias etc, and ask all of you to re read your posts and think before you post. The entertainment factor is wearing thin. No one will be picked on a one game performance and the lads that are on the radar have been there for sometime. It isn't just about match performance either. It is about "coachability", motivation, commitment, determination and of course skill and team player attributes. I know this is a forum and we all have our opinion, bias is human nature, but I would like to see people do their research before they make bold statements or criticize players for what would be a "poor" performance. Better still if you are going to criticize, at least make it constructive. I am sure the lads read this forum too. Think about it.

In saying that, there are many on here who post knowledgeable, objective and informative posts. They are appreciated. Thanks.

I thought that 12 is a problem, no one has really put their best foot forward.Redden was very strong with the ball in hand, but very weak in servicing those outside. He looked quite exasperated with himself at one time when yet another of his passes was ill directed.I think it made sense to give him a chance to be a finisher on Friday as he does have skills.
If you look in the overall picture I feel that Redden has done himself no harm in any way shape or form. Shows great vision, and for a slender lad, tremendous strength. Good pace and an ability to off load that was missing from the 1's centres. He made sure that 11 and 14 got dirty with the ball in hand. I think that this man will not let anyone down.

I hear what your saying, however I'm old school and I'm ok with a walking prop at times so long as he is strong at the set pieces! That why we have tireless back rowers :)

Without him GPS would have smashed the CAS scrum, instead of just dominating the same!

Besides this he (apart from the Creely) was the only one willing to crack at the GPS line, and I mean a real crack!
I got the chance to get there too Newbs, what were and are your thoughts of the,I think Shore tight head that came on for Sandell?
After playing one game he was pretty mobile and scrummaged up a storm.
I don't know if moving Tom Robertson from LHP to THP was the experiment that selectors will base their next paper on, but, as I said before that young Pryor Lees needs about 20 more class games under his belt to claim this position. Other than that, the world seems good for the young lads bar maybe Sandell and Vea due to injury. Blue Gum anyone?

With the amount of talent in the centres in these games i think you'll find Stewart and Morea as the combined states 12 and 13.
And it does the players no harm either. Last year Baldwin, Miller and McIntrye did not play for NSW for one reason or another yet all made it into the Oz Schools Ones side from the Combined States team.

Thanks! Does anyone have a lineup for the Country Schools team? Or a link to the appropriate site/thread?

I have last Sunday's programme with the names in it but if you Google this:

2Country Schools Champs Results & report 2012-2

...... you will be able to look at it on page 9. It's not 100% the same as the programme, but it's near enough.

That's why the world is a beautiful place.people have different opinions.
Let me state again that I hope he does do the hard work and realises his potential. He's not a tall guy so he'll need to get the weight/strength/mobility ratios right going forward.

As these guys play higher level rugby both the physical intensity and pace of the game increase dramatically.
If Satiu is subjected to even the next level of rugby, say the National Schoolboys Carnival, he will struggle to have any juice in his legs to make a difference in scrums. Fatigue makes cowards of us all.

Props need to play rugby, not just scrum and that's why Kepu holds down the tight head spot ahead of Palmer. While Kepu has definitely improved as a THP, Palmer is the better scrummager but can't hold a candle to Kepu's efforts around the field, particularly efforts like his cover defending against Wales last weekend.

I have no vested interests here and haven't pushed the merits of any props.
Here's hoping that Satui kicks on.

What was unfortunate for Junior was he was wearing a jersey that was too small (hence unflattering) a number 16 - his original No. 3 was worn by another in hte first game as he was unfit to play (due to a head laceration). The other number 3 was serioously injured and I understand did not return - hence one size didn't fit all with the replacement jersey.

Brian I'm sorry mate I paid most of my attention to the backs. I do agree with your comments on Lees!

I did get to see a bit of Vea in the seconds, but that was probably because he spent some time in the back line. I was impressed with him!
