@Baxxter, the fact that the <Whatevers> will be playing games outside of Sydney will endear them to the NSW Country Supporter base, regardless of where the players in the team actually come from.

The Tahs have started to re-connect with the bush, but the reality is that the bush has been starved of top tier footy for a long time.

Suddenly a crumb has been tossed their way, and that crumb is labelled NSW Country.

Elliot Jennings is contracted with the knights and though not playing in their current 20s squad he is still training with them and didn't get a release to play rugby union for Maitland this year.

Potgeiter would be the first picked lock for the wallabies at lock if he were an aussie, so youd think he would be in SA squad??

What will be their home ground? Will they be playing a match in a different country town each week?

Unfortunately due to the cost of running the NRC, the ARU have situated them in Sydney's own Moore Park as it would be too expensive to move around a NSW Country team from one home game, say in Wollongong and then travel all the way to Perth.

check out our latest podcast. Big Cam Treloar is keen to come back to play for NSW Country (or the new 'Rays') in the NRC

This has been said before - the Country team is based at Moore park because most, if not all, the players will already be based in Sydney (or if a Sup player will eb able to locate there). All training and admin will be done out of Moore Park. They willplay their home games at country venues such as Newcastle, Dubbo and Tamworth

There has been a misunderstanding of what Moore park means. They really meant to say the Royal Agricultural Society show grounds Moore park (which get shortened).
This is an obvious choice as it provides good stabling facilities for the boys horses, they are close to Randwick race course to settle bets and dares, and good hay lofts for the boys to develop healthy country relationships with the local girls.
The RAS show grounds (aka Moore Park) are the Country peoples home away from home in the city, a good choice.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the Show Grounds are no longer at Moore Park.

Listening to what Grant says I hope he is not saying that players can grow up in the Country and stay in the Country and then go onto higher honours from there. If the NRC side is supplemented by just country players the side will not be competitive and as a result it will lose the support of most Country followers. Honestly does anyone think a team made up of players from the country areas could compete with teh other city franchises (think manly, Uni Randwick, etc.)

Players that grew up in the country and played junior reps and junior Country or NSW Cockatoos still have that connection and love of Country and Country rugby irrespective of where they live now. They will be supported and followed by those that followed them in the Country days and they will still be accepted as Country boys.

In the past there have been some very good players that have been able to become Wallabies from the Country - Cornelson, Carter and Steve merrick. But these were all before the game became professional. I'm afraid the Country teams are still very much amatuer and their players will not be able to compete.
