Couldn't do much worse than AICES v GPS 3. Those sort of mismatches (and SBHS v St Augs) have to be avoided as they serve no purpose whatsoever.

How unholy are the Waverley and St Aloys boys?

Pardon my ignorance but is CCC a formal association with fixed membership, or is it open to all Catholic School rugby players?

Could the likes of kids from Joeys, View, Aloys, Augies, St Pats and Waverley who are not wanted by the GPS, ISA or CAS rep teams try out for places with CCC?

Generally speaking HJ those schools who belong to CCC are subordinate to the NSW Catholic Education Commission. These schools receive their funding from the NSWCEC.

The others you have mentioned are independent Catholic schools! In other words they are self funded (with Govt support like others) and do not reply upon the NSWCEC for financial support.

As far as sport goes the schools you have mentioned choose not to belong to CCC, however they are always welcomed from my understanding. For example St Greg's Campbelltown. This school is an independent Catholic school and belongs to the ISA, however its Rugby League team competes in NSWCCC. An anomaly if you ask me!

Newbie is spot on, I was being more flippant.

Results from last year U16s championship shows CCC ran third, beating CAS & ISA on the way; this side has the same potential.

All Catholic schools are able to trial -under there Diocese in which their school falls -which would be Sydney for these schools. I don't recall a Sydney Diocese team entry... It may be worth a try find out when the trials are on for the diocese and make the inquiries.
Maybe then we would have more rugby players to choose a side from, as alot of boys come over for this event from league. Imagine the possibilities really...
We have just made an inquiry as to the Country Schools team and that would be another avenue as well as CCC for my son. We contact a zone and enter him in a team from the zone. Contact the diocese and ask If you dont ask you dont know!

Disappointed with CCC today, especially the 2nd half against Country. When you lead 26-5 at half-time, then allow your opposition to score 17 unanswered points only to score right on full-time to seal the game. I did notice that the half-back, I mentioned last week go off at half-time not to return - he seemed to give his forwards and backs more structure which totally disappeared in the 2nd half.

Against CAS, again lapses led to errors resulting in the lost.

These ones below were especially pertinent:

• charged down coversion from right in front of the posts
• lost of crucial lineouts
• one hand flick back from a CCC player who was about 1 metre from scoring instead of going to ground with try likely in the next phase - this led to a CAS breakout

Anyway, good luck to the lads in the match against GPS2 tomorrow, they are in with a real chance if they can play controlled rugby with minimal errors. The talent is there.

CCC 17 drew with GPSII 17 in Life Member Shield Final U16s.

What a great result for the CCC; well done boys. Anyone got a

I have a feeling that GPS thought that they just had to turn up and the rest of the rugby world would stand aside and bow to their obvious superiority.

The CCC lads thought otherwise and got right in their face and should/could have won the game.

GPS were reacting to CCC throughout. Obvious RL influence in the CCC side. with a bit more time outside the dark arts, the CCC boys would have won very easily.

GPS parents in my vicinity were not happy and were very relieved when they drew even.

IMHO CCC deserved to win, but that's footy.

I make it my policy not to report on individual children's performances on the field, including those of the Junior Jarses. Far as I know, and am concerned, every child out there passionately believed they were David Pocock, Will Genia, John Eales etc. Good on them I think.

Happy to report on the facts of the game, and other team related issues and I am sure that there are plenty of others who are prepared to talk about (and talk up) individuals performances.

F'r instance I am happy to report there was a particularly annoying parent yelling "C'mon CC", "Go CC" incessantly throughout. From where I was standing, some potential impartial support was turned off the CCC team effort by that broken record of a supporter.

No problem re: individual players but hard to deny a mum or dad supporting the team their son was playing in - sounds like he or she was right into it - great stuff.

How did the scoring go, were CCC in front or chasing?

CCC set the pace throughout with GPS chasing most of the game, much to the annoyance of the GPS faithful.

CCC just lacked that bit of the technical aspects of rugby to put the GPS lads to the sword.

There certainly was no respect for the colour of the socks the GPS boys were wearing. The boy did their jumper (and association) proud.

Re the NSW squad, from experience (a couple of Junior Jarses are well beyond Schools into Grade and colts now), Cream will get somewhere near the top and the selected team will be close to the best that is available. Remember there is still the horse trading of SJRU and Country selection for U16 spots still to be determined. Politics and bias will be claimed by many. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

Last year the CCC team beat CAS 1's, lost narrowly to CHS and then smashed ISA and only got one player into the NSWSRU team!

NSWCCC for mine are not even considered to be the poor second cousin when it comes to Rugby selections. It's quite the inverse in the dark code!

As a MCC old boy with sons who repped in recent years for CCC; it makes us tykes proud when the CCC pull off a result that was not expected. Pity we didn't head out there today.

So to all the boys who took it up the the so-called might of the GPS - congratulations, you did your association proud.

At the risk of taking our Lords name in vain, I hope to Christ that it wasn't Rugby Mum.

I would expect a fellow Gaggerlander to be a little less repetitive. It wasn't so much the volume (although that was also an issue), but the repetitive nature of it.

I would think that Rugby Mum to be able to vary her barracking, whilst still being passionate (and loud) for her association.

Someone has to stick it to the GPS loudmouth barrackers.

Hey Whatever, I vow I was not the screamer but sat close to her. Was in stitches through the CHS V GPS A gane, as the young school lads echoed the hoarse "Go The Blues" with a Go the Whites each time she called. Manu had tears in his eyes from laughing.
A great day of school boy rugby I witnessed. I must say i have to swallow some words re my comments about the Dark Coders, as they were quick and scored tries for CCC today. Great back line most of the game, and once these boys got the ball could run through the opponents getting points up. The forwards held their own and were strong in the first half.
I thought these teams were pretty evenly matched, as the CCC made an impact early in the game.
Be interesting to see how many CCC boys get through.
Apparently the boys in the NSW Country team and Sydney Team, that may be considered for All Schools, are discussed and treated like "draft system". Team is announced after these three bodies meet and decide where these boys will play. Should be interesting... Bad luck if these boys want to stay in either NSW Country or Sydney teams..

Hey Mum would not have mattered if it was you; I reckon it is great that a proud mum was giving her all supporting her son and his team.

Are you able to comment on how the I/C (newbie's pick) and how my pick (no:21 - Scott) went today? Also, as a so called expert on half, 5/8 play, I also liked the look of the ISA halfback yesterday, don't know whether you would have took much noticed on his play today.

As I said b4 it obviously was a great result for the CCC boys - they (including your young bloke) should be proud.
