In saying that when they announced the U/18 league team his name was called and out he came on crutches and medical boot capsule on his leg (can't remember which leg though).

But that doesn't surprise me as he was selected in the U/18 NSWCCC RL team last year as an u/16. Another lad called Adam Elliot who is returning from a knee reco was also in the same boat as Morgan (i.e. didn't play but was selected because he too made the same team last year).

The ramifications of serious injuries, especially the knee reco to such young players of the future. I wonder if half of these players with serious injuries so young to so much footy are still playing at around 20 to 25.??

So do you believe Michael will play for West Harbour and/or the CCC league side?

If he ankle was encased in a medical boot about two weeks ago; you would seriously doubt it.

Whatever,

Wasn't aware that he played for Wests. My understanding is he plays for Canterbury JRU (if in fact he still plays club rugby).

With respect to the ASSRL Championship that is still a month away and possibly why he was selected in the NSWCCC team (in other words he might be healed by then)

I tend to agree with you on this point. I know we're digressing but this lad Eliott I was mentioning had just been selected in the Australian Schoolboys team after last years ASSRL Championship.

Given such a selection you would have thought that someone close to him would prevent him playing another game until he went on tour to NZ later that year! Unfortunately not and Eliott did his knee two weeks later playing for his school, St Greg's.

At the date on injury in or around 2011 the lad had just finished a big season of SG Ball with his team the Bulldogs, then club, and school! Way too many games! And you're right eventually something gives and it can often lead to long term consequences.

btw the above lad has only just returned after a year rehabbing. But such is his talent he was selected without having to play one trial game!

I know it is not of the subject title but until the next round of games it is a great fillin.

It is not always the parents fault; someone of these lads are head strong.

Especially the dual coders: Cop this - rep HM or SG football = 12 games if they go all the ways (extremely tough games); school league footy = 8 to 10 games; school union footy = 6 to 8 games; district weekend footy = 14 to 17 games plus rep try outs and trials = about 8 games then school rep league or union games around 6 to 8 games. Then top that up with training.

Any wonder these guys blow out when they are in their early twenties.

Your so on the money its not funny 'Whatever'. Late last year a current NRL coach when speaking on this very subject said to me, "many do not get to finish their journey."

MOTH is right, and given that I have strong suspicion he is a current/former referee, he would have seen, heard and experienced such parents living their lives vicariously through their children. MOTH?????

Newbie - such big words, but sorry you have me confused with someone else. HOWEVER, in all sports there are parents who regularly allow their children to over participate or skirt the edges of the rules to give them more opportunities to shine or to just improve. The catch 22 is (& it's a beauty) that when they get selected for higher honours, their bodies often throw in the towel becasue of fatigue and it's all been for nought!

With this great weather will it still go ahead? Clearing Friday with more rain Saturday.

Put it this way; if the selectors turn up so will I! In other words see you all at the CAS v CHS v ISA 1's games!

Newbie Do you have the times of the games on Sunday. The program has once set of times and the calendar another???

I believe the U16s selectors will be at these trials.

With all joke aside Rat Park is not the friendliest of water logged pitches! There might have to be a deferral especially if council gets involved!

Yes and the updated program different times.
If anyone in the know can let me know the times CCC and CHS and AICES are scheduled to swim/play that would be great. I am transporting kids from these teams to the game and dont fancy sitting in the rain any longer than I need too...

Hey Mum,

The NSW Rugby Schools website has the times as following (but I would check):

U16s
CCC v AICES 11.00am
Country v AICES 11.30am
Country v CCC 12 noon
ISA v CHS 12.30pm

U18s

AICES v GPS III 12 noon
CAS II v GPS II 1.30pm
CASI v GPS I 3pm

Newbie, no joke it is noted U16s selectors will be at these trials; maybe looking at players away from just the State Titles the following week.
