The CCC U16's had a tough couple of days at the office at the NSWSRU Championships. However, it was great to see 2 CCC & 4 former CCC boys make the NSW schools teams on Friday.

Got me to thinking about the combined CCC team one could put together from the last few years who have (a) used either the U16 or U18 CCC pathway & then gone onto represent the NSWSRU (b) been in a CCC school before heading off to another association (c) gone onto Super 15 From a CCC school.

Here's my list so far...

1. Salesi Manu (CCC 16s .... I think before ISA)
2. Tannous Ferris (CCC 18s)
3. Matt Sandell (CCC 16s)
4. Tom Heslop - (attended Bede Polding College Windsor before Scots)
5. Sam Wykes - (Patrician Brothers Blacktown then Western Force)
6. Boyd Killingsworth (CCC 16s)
7. Zach Fell (CCC 18s)
8. James Dargeville (CCC 18s & Aust U20)
9. Nick White (CCC 18s & Brumbies)
10. Corey Tulloch (CCC 16s)
11. Serafu Fatiaki (CCC 16s then onto 1st Grade NRL)
12. Elliot Jennings (CCC 18s)
13. Tevita Feiloakitau - Fetuani (CCC 18s)
14. Jonathon Brown (CCC 18s)
15. Jayden Dallalana (CCC 18s)

16. Jackson McLean (CCC 16s)
17. Francis Brown (CCC 18s)
18. Jacob Woodhouse (attended Bede Polding College - Windsor before Scots)
19. Jonny Walker (CCC 16s)
20. Samisoni Langi (CCC 16s then onto 1st Grade NRL)

I suppose people can say what they like but 20 players in the last few years is not bad at all for a smaller association. Especially when a few of these guys have gone onto Aust Schools & higher.

There was one other, Michael Morgan CCC 16's in 2011 who was selected to play for NSWSRU 16's in 2011 but withdrew to represent NSWCCC RL U/18's. Has been selected in the NSWRL U/18's to play against QLD U/18's in the curtain raiser to 'State of Origin II' this week.

Currently playing 1st grade for the Marlins are BJ Hartmann, Daniel Alley and Harry Bergelin. All went to St Pauls Manly as did Jack Rowntree and yes Salesi Manu in recent years.

Now that I think about it I think James Parker (CCC u16) may have been called up to that NSWSRU U16 team too but withdrew to tour the UK with St Paul's?

Going back quite a way but Matt Hodgson was at St Edward's Gosford in his senior years - Wallaby who's now captaining the Force. That school had 5 players in this years 16s side; best of the lot was only 15 and subsequently pulled out due to his selection in the Under 15s CCC league side. Let's hope he tries out again next year because he is a special player and will come close to making the NSW side.

It's always great to see the CCC boys doing well. If only some of the league talent that CCC seems to produce got the opportunity and coaching in our beautiful game, they would surely 'convert'. The future does, however, look bright.

If we delve into the dark & distant past we have names like Tim Donelly (Marist Eastwood & 6 Aust Schools caps) & Pete Besselling (St Dominic's - Penrith & NSW Waratahs).

I also recently watched Nigel Viafale (CCC 18's) a couple of years back make his debut in Shute Shield vs Parramatta for Penrith. He did not look out of place and scrummaged strongly and scored a good rampaging try.
