Interestingly 3 of the starting Presidents A backs all played Harold matts league this year and not club/rep rugby this year (Bell ,Simi and Welington ) of which 2 of these the 3 boys could not get a start in there selected first HM team. What does that say of the standard of current club/rep rugby form , hope the selectors know more thank yourself .

Yeah and Rock Elsom was a reserve grader at the Bulldogs and Palu was at St George - or something like that and if not them then others.
No correlation.

The reason for there being so much arguments about the selection is because the teams have not been picked on form but instead on reputation and biased opinions. Bell, Titmuss, McCormark and Lewis all have to carry the Newington team as the rest of the team are quite poor. Simi is a great player but is a winger and is playing 13 (for the first time ever might i add) which shows the problem at Newington

CatchnPass, i am sorry but you are wrong with your opinions on these selections. maybe if you saw the trials today you would see the error in your judgement

Seems to me most of those selected have less reputation than those on the bench. But happy to be edumacated, so who's been picked on reputation and biased opinion?

Neither Bell nor Simi made Sydney in 2014 or 2015 and Wellington played for Country last year but didn't make NSW. So maybe it means they tried another pathway this year (league) and worked extra hard on their rugby as well and have been rewarded with selection. And Im sure the selectors know more than I do, but it seems we happen to see it the same way here.[/quote

Your probably right, the 7 boys selected from Presidents A and Cas A who all played HM this year must of all really worked extra hard on there rugby as well as 6 months solid HM training to gain selection in there respective schools teams.

TIme to enjoy the new players coming thru rather than constantly mentioning ex rep/nsw players who where very poor last year at the state carnivals , when NSW did not win a game.[/quote]

Thats the point you seem to be struggling to grasp - many of the New boys referred to above are those ex rep/nsw players you no longer want mentioned.

And I'm at a complete loss to explain how the other 62 boys selected for GPS and CAS could possibly have made it without playing HM.

Angus Duvall is in better form and a better player than Liam Janson but was picked under him. As janson played NSW last year and Duvall's club couldn't field a team.

All the boys playing HM would have been focused on HM and their season if they actually played in a team (Lewis, Simi, Titmuss, Dellow) instead of those who did''t play a single minute (Bell)

Will be a good battle in forwards between scots and joeys with zylstra , Harris and WIlliams the standouts for scots who I believe are on the bench for the 2IV.

What surprises me in the names thrown around for rep teams is Ben Baker 2IV is not mentioned along with new player Brett Wellington who is playing 1IV this week but both can play Scots u16s. Seriously if those two backs can't make either rep team then I'm either a bad judge or somebody is not doing there job properly. I suggest the selectors have a good look at these two boys for themselves and then see if I'm a bad judge.

Good to see I'm not not a bad judge Harris , Williams and Wellington selected in Pres A , Baker and Zylstra in Pres B .

Interestingly this year Baker been standout back ,either centre or full back for Scots 2IV and Wellington has filled in re injury's if needed for 2IV but has been good.

IMO Baker lengths better player and a bit stiff him being selected on the wing for Pres B when he always starts ahead of Wellington at school 2IV.

Probably a good reason to keep u16's playing in there on age level or if good enough let them play IV. Letting boys play 2nds some weeks and not other weeks detracts from the u16s comp which is close but the standard would be much higher and this would also make the selectors jobs a lot easier .

Wasn't to long ago u were very uncomplimentary about the scots u16s forward pack , u will find in the next couple of years Harris and WIlliams both Pres A players being the "new" upcoming stars and no they don't play HM .

Koopu (N) not selected at all? Very surprising a very big lad for his age, good scrummager and in my opinion has improved his game a lot this season. Very surprised to see him not selected at all.

You don't seem to think the selectors got it right in GPS opens or U16s, despite them being different selectors.
Im disappointed you can't give us some pointer to the incorrect selections in CAS too.

Incorrect. At #182 I said I rated Williams, didn't know Harris and Zylstra had his work cut out given competition. As it turns out Williams and Harris are in As and Zylstra in Bs behind said competition.

The last thing I would describe the New 16As as a side carried by a few stars. The games I have seen they have performed as a excellent outfit. Of the three matches loss two could have been won. Only the 7-21 loss to Joeys stands out as anything resembling a poor show. Even TKS supporters commented on the high quality of play that was on display last week. Only a penalty in the dying stages of that game took denied Newington a victory. Hardly, an achievement of a side containing so many "Quite Poor Players".

I think I've heard enough about Newingtons selections or non selections in the pres teams this year. But I'm curious that a team leading the competition (Joeys) has only 1 starting player in respective teams. Shore also has a starting player in each team?? Am I missing something here??
