Is that Shore's first win in the age group since starting out as the 13As? If so, congratulations boys and I'm sure it is being savoured in the way only the achievement of a long pursued goal can be. Well done and enjoy.

Still find it hard to believe that the Newington 16A's side isn't going undefeated. On paper they look like an unbeatable team.

Well done to all the boys who trialled in challenging conditions today at Kings.

Given the conditions the standard of Rugby was pretty good and the ball did get past 10 with wingers scoring tries!

A lot of talent across the paddock. Both teams will have large well skilled forwards packs.

Presidents XV A and B will be posted on GPS website this afternoon.

do you know what time they will be posted?

Teams should be out soon. I thought the footy played today was great due to the harsh conditions. I specifically like the Kings 9, Luke Go and Joeys 10, Vincent Creagh combo as they have great communication and skill, I also admired the skill and pace of Matt Dutallis the winger from Riverview. But all round it was a fantastic day of rugby with many talented young men with bright futures.

Some very poor selections, the President A 9 and 10 combo is a bit dodgy in my honest opinion. Would also prefer Titmuss at 8 and Harris at 7. Joe Dalton i would think starting number 9. Surprised Lewis wasn't 10 in Presidents A instead of Creagh. Also interesting to also see the Newington and Kings boys got a lot less game time this morning at the trials, was this because the coaches are from Kings and would have seen them play the day before?

As a few have pointed out, several of the New boys who have strong rugby and/or league resumes are not in great form this season. I think the teams chosen largely reflect current form, which is a credit to the selectors.

Strongly agree, some very poor decisions. Did you not see Titmuss today? Quite easily the standout forward of the day and in yesterdays outing with Kings. How he did not grab that #8 jersey is quite confusing. Dalton performed outstanding today, his attention to detail is definitely a key part of his game. Lewis did not get the opportunity needed today to impress, hardly played, at best he got quarter of a game. Lewis has plenty of potential but like I keep emphasizing, he just does not get the opportunity.

CatchnPass, you always talk about current form mate, it is quite obvious who you think is out of form, but they aren't lol. It is the team, New simply do not have enough quality players in key positions, therefore these players are mistaken for "out of form" complete utter bs. What do you look for in a trial then? Titmuss and Dalton after leaving that trial today, were to me a shoe in for that starting XV.

Agree greatly with you here. Because the New 16A's have 4 of their main forwards either in 1s and 2s they have a lot of B standard player filling in for them this season making it a lot harder for certain players to star. Lewis in his quarter set up 4 of his teams 5 tries. It is clear the teams aren't picked on trial form or else Dalton and Titmuss would be the first to picked aswell

'Current form' should cover the season or at least the past few weeks. The benefit of having the teams selected after 5 rounds is that it enables selectors to assess how players are faring in the weekly matches rather than relying solely upon 25 - 50 mins (for most) in the artificial construct of a trial, particularly one played in conditions such as today. Trials should be about confirming pencilled in selections and spotting the odd bolter rather than being the sole assessment opportunity.

As for New, it is the 16A players who have been consistently mooted as 'certainties' whose form I have focussed on, not the B team players filling in. Angus Bell has been playing great footy as he did last year and thoroughly deserves his selection. Saul Lewis, Pat McCormack and Keith Titmuss, who I rate highly in terms of abiility, imho have simply not been playing up to their 2015 standard and it seems the Pres selectors agree. But they are all in the squad and get to impress the nsw selectors if good enough next weekend.

Mate do you actually attend the games? Could you please give me a detailed response in where Lewis and Titmuss have been performing poorly. I am rather clueless and I think deezebola would agree. In their defense like i continue to express, they do their job quite effectively where needed, there is numerous players in that team who just simply don't perform and cause great pressure. Pres selectors obviously think like yourself, but i definitely know that the Pres XV could have easily been made stronger by including Titmuss in the forward pack and moving Harris to either flanker or to the backrow. Lewis would have brought alot of slick versatility to the backline, however he is in a great position to standout as the starting 10 for the Pres 2nds.

Have watched these boys since u11s. As you say, the Pres selectors have spoken so enough said on the issue. Good luck to all the boys selected and I'm sure they will do their schools and the AAGPS proud.

The old fashioned way - having watched a number of these boys a lot in previous years and having seen how they are playing this season.

League training is great. For League. It's a much narrower set of skills. if you doubt this ask yourself how many rugby backs have made transition to league forwards compared to the reverse. Can you name one rugby league back who has become a wallaby or even soup level forward?

Interestingly 3 of the starting Presidents A backs all played Harold matts league this year and not club/rep rugby this year (Bell ,Simi and Welington ) of which 2 of these the 3 boys could not get a start in there selected first HM team. What does that say of the standard of current club/rep rugby form , hope the selectors know more thank yourself .

Neither Bell nor Simi made Sydney in 2014 or 2015 and Wellington played for Country last year but didn't make NSW. So maybe it means they tried another pathway this year (league) and worked extra hard on their rugby as well and have been rewarded with selection. And Im sure the selectors know more than I do, but it seems we happen to see it the same way here.

Sorry CatchNPass struggling to see where ur coming from here mate. I've followed Newington fairly closely been able to catch about 3 of their games and those 3 you mention have all been quality. Personally I feel McCormack's form has been better than 2015 and Lewis and Titmuss have been as destructive as ever.

Re Pres selection today I am baffled by some selections including the no. 8 and no. 9 selection. Dalton or McCormack would be suitable and Titmuss for 8. Oh well selections are done guess we can't do much but just thought I'd share my opinion good luck to the boys.
