Great game today at TSC could have gone either way ........ Interesting to note that TSC had three key players out injured that are expected to return next week. This Comp has only 3 games left but you can't help feel there will be more curved balls to be thrown before the final result is known.........

Great game today out at Riverview. A credit to the boys on both sides. Newington looked in total control when they played it tight and Riverview backs looking dangerous whenever they had space.

Cold and blustery conditions in Armidale for the Shore visit and the last Old Boys weekend - title to be changed to accommodate girls next year. The results were all over the park.

Shore 13Bs demolished TAS 13As 61-0, with Shore 13Ds beating TAS 13Bs 57-5.

In the 14s, Shore 14B beat TAS 14A 19-12, while TAS 14B beat Shore 14D 17-5.

In the 15s, Shore 15B beat TAS 15A 27-12, while Shore 15D beat TAS 15B 26-14.

In the 16s, TAS 16As beat Shore 16Bs 32-5, while Shore 16D beat TAS 16B 15-12.

In the open grades, TAS 3rds beat Shore 7ths 41-5, TAS 2nds beat Shore 5ths 15-5, TAS 1sts beat Shore 3rds 41-0. TAS remains on the the top of the third comp.

I am always interested in lower grade results because of what it says for the future. Based on these results, TAS will again be highly competitive next year. The score in the 16s suggests TAS 16A could play in the open comp, but then you look at the lower level results. It's difficult. TAS is arguably a bit too strong for the thirds, but not strong enough to go to the top level. It's difficult.

Watched Joeys tear the Shore backs apart.

McTaggart was electric. Wilkinson, Reilly and Jaffar-Williams also impressive. In the Joeys pack Ashhurst a stand out.

The Shore pack was solid, although got touched up in the scrum. The number 5 was yellow carded for being 35 years old

Not a bad report - Green & Gold should get you to do their match reports as I heard the old bloke who was covering the game was yarning too much and missed most of the action. Made friends with a few dogs though with his bag of treats, the old fella.

Yeah the bloke who got the yellow card was born old but the Shore pack will follow him anywhere - you'd go over the top out of the trenches with Rory Suttor - that's why he's in Aussie Schoolboys.

Glad there was actually a reason for the card.

$cots have taken the lead in the comp ... somehow each week finding a way to win

however Scots face a very tough run home

next week against a resurgent Newington

then Joeys, who will come to Bellevue Hill, determined to make it an all age-group shallacking

and then riverview in the last round

most interestingly, with 3 rounds to play, both Newington and Joeys remain a chance to share the title

so only Shore is no chance of sharing the shield

After seeing Joeys yesterday, they are the form team in the comp right now. I don't think they will get beaten again, and they will be the only side to Grand Slam Round 2.

If this is the case they will end up on 7 wins, and I think will get to share the chocolates.

Joeys seem to know their weaknesses (Forward play) and play to their strengths (Back play). They have 3 schoolboys in their back line and used them to great effect. McTaggart was special.

If Joeys win their remaining games, they will end up on 6 wins.

Scots already have 6 wins, so for Joeys to share the bikkies, they will need Scots to lose all remaining games and Kings to only win 1 out of their remaining 3 games.

Joeys will be ruing the losses in the tights ones in the early rounds

I stand corrected.

Its not an impossibility, but I suspect Scots might stay in front now.

The joeys versus scots match in round 9? will be a cracker.

Shore showed how scots' backline can be defensively exposed ... Although Rixon has exposed all and sundry on the "edges"... In 2016

Yasmin has proved scots strike weapon ... But agility would have to be a potential weakness , given his size

Plus scots having billy smith back, means scots backs are looking good

... it will be a clash of 2 excellent back lines

And I personally think joeys would go in favourites

Although joeys need to get over kings to keep their title hopes alive

While there are a number of mathematical possiblities, it's hard to see anyone other than Scots or Kings winning firsts, Scots or Riverview winning seconds and TAS are almost unassailable in 3rds.

With Joeys yet to play TAS in 3rds, and given only 1 win separates them, it could be tight!

Never underestimate Joeys, but TAS are in the box seat. The game is at Joeys next week, so they'll have the big home crowd to support them.

TAS have only conceded 25 points in their 6 games, so they will be a tough nut to crack. Looks like it will be a great game.

Myabe Joeys will reconsider their opposition to the 3rd XV competition if they win it?;)
