Well here's the thing, they call themselves defending GPS Premiers, and i think they have to live up to that title. Regardless of who played where on Saturday, the fact that they even played one 1st XV player from the team last year in the 2nds is a pretty weird thing to do, I mean, okay it is trials, but you don't change a winning team, so why wouldn't they use the returning players from last year as a scaffold for this years team? Anyway, regardless of that, to go out and lose to Kings, in not even a close game either, further cements my argument of why Scots aren't favourites for this saturday. You look at Newington, a team that was pretty hopeless when this years year 12's were in the 16A's, now siding a dominant team, which gave Riverview a second half belting, its hard not to say that Newington can't be nudging in front as favourites.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. I'll be watching the game this saturday, and I'm almost always correct in who to tip for the Scots vs New away game. It will be interesting nonetheless, and I guess its safe to say that this saturday is lining up to be a cracker.
. Newington return to the scene of their 101-0 slaughter last yr. They have played quite a few trial games now, but haven't won them all, losing to Oakhill 2 wks ago. Scots by under 100.
