At certain AAGPS schools, pupils have been caned for having the temerity to even bring a soccer ball to school. let alone wanting to play the game.

How things change?

BH Travers was famously attributed to having done just that.

I wonder what he would make of Shore school junior AFL teams training on Northbridge A ground whilst the senior rugby teams are moved to the back ovals?

At some schools I understand that whoever can't find a place in another sport gets put into cricket.

its not going to get easier on saturday. Klofies is strong.

To get perspective regarding the top SA mostly afrikaans rugby schools. They have 20+ rugbyteams at u14/15/16/18 levels in total. Normally u18 level have 7+ teams.

SA schoolboy rugby stronghold is in the Western Province.

There's a thread for CHS rugby.... This isn't it.

MODS Edit: Posts have been moved to NSW CHS Rugby 2015 thread.

Game on April 10 Waitaki Boys High School (NZ) vs Scots College

From Waitaki Boys High School Rugby Facebook:

Final tour game just completed with a 17- 48 loss to The Scots College. Solid performance from the boys despite the scoreline. Tries scored by Piliu Tavake (2) and Sailosi Vea. Sam Rhind kicked one conversion.
Privilege to play against one of Australia's best rugby schools and hope to continue our relationship in the years ahead.

They also beat Manly U17 (or U18 - it's unclear on facebook as both teams are mentioned) rep team 45-0 on 6 April as a warm up.

Kings played visiting NZ school, Francis Douglas Memorial College (from New Plymouth, North Island), on April 3, and won 19-13.

The visitors from NZ had earlier been beaten by Oakhill College 29 - 17, and they went on to beat Terrigal Trojans U18's by 70-7.

Score from the Kings game was actually 22/23-13 to Kings with Kings not taking the conversion attempt of a try scored just before full time so score could well have been 24/25 -13. I was at the game....sloppy conditions....sloppy handling by both sides....and significant penalty count against Kings....not sure what drugs their Facebook poster was on as I could count the penalties that FDMS received on one hand whereas the penalty count against Kings would have necessitated the removal of shoes socks and gloves ......and Peter Heater...

Yeah HJ the 'Manly rep' team was actually an U16 & 17 Forest team (with a couple of Harbord Harlequins) played on Tues 7th, in that horrendous storm that broke, is my understanding.
The Forest team could only field forwards as the backs were on holidays. So pretty much a thrashing as the scoreline suggests.

But a good natured game and the boys from the Forest certainly tried their best. The Kiwis were very professional with a full coaching group all miked-up etc.
