I couldn't resist a further comment. I hope that you don't mind. It really was a combined school effort from the 13s up. The underdog story sells Rugby. Next year, but subject to the comp changes, it would be nice to think that the other minnows (SBHS & SGS) would be there too. SGS was competitive throughout as it was.

And here's the same video from another TV station, the action footage was filmed by Year 11 student Nick Murray, but with a more detailed commentary..- http://au.prime7.yahoo.com/n2/video/-/watch/18882734/milestone-for-local-school/

Well they drew with TAS and beat SJC so they were certainly competitive.

Very true. As the end, there was a five point spread among the top six teams, with SGS coming fourth but only two points behind TAS. A two point spread among the top four teams is competitive. indeed. SBHS were further behind, but did win one, draw one.

The Season is all done and dusted.

Any hints on what clubs the 2013 graduates will pop up at next year for Colts?

Who have we lost to the Mungos?

Hugh Jarse

We started a thread last year about these things and it had a few legs.

Maybe you could start a new thread and when you do I could transfer the responses already made - I think I've worked out to do it.

Maybe something like:

Where and what are school leavers playing next year?

…… or something similar which would cover what rugby union clubs they are going to and the mungo factor.

HJ worth noting that Kamp is in the Aus A side, and that A Kellaway captained all bar 1 of the matches (IIRC) at the state title, so not sure of who is the actual Captin of the NSW I side? Could make a fairly forimddable NSW side from that tea of the year!

Both Kamp and Nick Kellaway also played for Combined States. I think Cannell was the official NSW I captain but he missed all but the first game due to injury.

Most of them get mentioned in the report but if you didn't get them ill give you one from each team

Riverview - Henry Hutchinson (13)

interesting to note that 1st-4th Grade woodies (Eastwood) teams have made into the Grandfinal. Which GPS/ISA etc etc players would they source from to get such good results?

HJ, following my scouting at the old boys function after the game last weekend, i dare say a lot of the Scots boys will be wearing the myrtle next year, with their coach also being the 1st grade coach at Randwick, and playing the same style of rugby which the boys seem to enjoy. I dare say most if not all of the Year 12 boys will find themselves at Coogee oval.

Will be interested to see where the Newington boys end up. Cannell and Morris especially. Does anyone know where they played their junior football?
Morris has had a few different rugby clubs/districts and been to 3 high schools, so I suspect he'll end up at the top club.

Historically, I think that they get quite a few from Kings and Riverview (must like the blue and white).

All 4 Grand Finals - Sydney Uni vs. Eastwood! Amazing - it's like a "super-sized" club round!!! :)

Thanks for reminding us of what School sport should be about.

We tend to focus a little too much on the winners, men of the match, future wallabies, Aust schoolboys, competition tables, promoting the virtues schools that we are associated with etc, and forget that the majority of these are just kids playing a game that they love with their mates.

With the season done and dusted, it is time to look for nominations for the more prestigious awards of the season:

a. Best 1st XV Afternoon Tea
(Quality 25%, Quantity 45%, Range 15%, Captain's speech, 10%, Location 5%)

b. Best Canteen/BBQ
(Quality of product 50%, speed of service 30%, Value for money 20%)

c. Best Match Day experience
(parking 10%, Crowd behaviour 25%, sportsmanship 25%, Canteen 10%, Afternoon tea 5%, exciting footy 15%, presentation of ovals 10%)

A. Scots win the best 1st/2nd Afternoon Tea by a full length of the field. Hot soup is a wonderful respite on cold and wet afternoons at Bellevue Hill and the hot food and drink just keeps coming easily satisfying the hunger pangs of visiting parents and players.

B. Best canteen for me is Shore's- plenty of choice and very quick service provided by the ever polite and prim Shore mums.

C. Can't go past this years round 9 game between King's and Joeys on the White Oval at King's. It was Old Boys day, Boarders Round Up day and the weather was glorious. There were a couple of thousand in attendance enjoying great schoolboy rugby between traditional foes who are the two most successful schools in 120 odd years of GPS Rugby.....AND King's won!!!

Its cricket season as of Monday!
What do you suggest - an outline of plans for world domination of the code?
;)
Something would be nice. Things seem on the build, let people know. One or 2 photographs and a paragraph or two overview of the program perhaps. I went onto the latest copy of the newsletter and saw some information there about upcoming tours and other information for 2014. Even that would do.

Who knows, today Ruschcutters Bay, tomorrow the world;).

Enjoy your cricket/rowing season.:)
