Can they use some of the guys from the 4's????

Oh so sorry. There is no 4ths.

Mate that is unneccesary, the game was forfeited because of injuries and suspensions (and not all in the 4ths) and poor administration, a bunch of 11 boys did turn up and played their hearts out.

So it was forfeited now was it!!? And all these injuries & suspensions occurred just before kick off did they? My sources say the relevant New authority was dismissive at best!! Arrogance at its worst.

I am sorry NewMacca... It IS NECESSARY... Mr Rapp is 100% accountable for Newington College's Schoolboy Rugby. He reports in to Dr Mulford... These are KPI's that are a must. If you do not know where your pupils are?

Reason I think is because Steve Walsh hasn't done a Shute Shield game this year, and I think it would be policy that Finals matches can only be refereed by referees who have done games throughout the year.

No such policy but you are correct that he is not refereeing Shute Shield finals this year.

You have actually got me fairly disturbed about your laissez faire attitude. These young charges are in the control of the school. Agreed?
Why are they not fulfilling THEIR duties to THEIR school?
The Gen Y attitude that you display leaves me, sadly wanting. These young men in past days showed pride all the way through to the H's.
where have you changed the path NewMacca?

Having secured the 2nd XV premiership, rumour has it the Joeys 2nds may take the field this weekend with a slightly different formation.

Coming off his debut first XV try against the Tupou College XV, young Costigan is expected to make his long awaited move to flyhalf. In other changes Costigans partner on the flank Rory Gallagher is said to be following his body shape and making the move to the front row. O'Shea will don the 9 jersey with Curtin to play number 8. Try scoring machine Andrew Bligh, is expected to miss this weekends fixture having been called up the the Wests Tigers Nrl side, to partner his Holy Cross brethren Luke Brooks in the halves against South Sydney.

In other Joeys rugby news Dexter Dunworth will coach the 3rd XV on his lonesome this coming weekend as head coach Bruce Carr continues his search for the Studies of Religon 1 unit section 2 trial papers.

I feel this is untrue and not needed

I notice a few comments on the Joey's v New 4ths game. Here are some facts.
The Boys that did turn up were not happy and have nothing but respect for the Joeys boys.
There were 4 injuries late in the week, at least 2 of these boys turned up to help.
There were 3 boys sick, I happen to remember New being more than accommodating previously when illness ran rampant through the Joey's boarding house.
There was at least 2 boys called up late to go to the thirds. This is one of the downsides of of the separate 3rds comp.

The 5ths were asked by the school to show up and most did not. Most did not because they are either in the middle of yr11 exams or HSC trials and could not afford the extra 2-3 hours attending both games. A couple just do not want to play 4ths, but most it was a case of studying taking a priority.
The school has somewhat let down the u17s age group since year 7 and that needs to be addressed.

So before some of you get on your high horses you might want to understand the situation.
I would like to complement the Joeys coach for his apology and attitude after being a little bit ordinary in the first round.

As an aside a kudos to boys from both sides and especially the referee who all played in the right spirit.

But a big #$% to the joeys parent who had to be told to leave the playing fields because they acted like an idiot and abused staff and students from New.

That Joeys parent had driven 8 hours to see his son play in what he expected to be a proper game and I also don't remember him ever abusing a Newington player.

I was disappointed and I feel genuinely sorry for everyone, from both teams, that traveled any distance or time to watch their kids play and was disappointed, but that sort of behaviour is out of order.
Who would they have abused if it rained and was called off ?

Martin Luther?

New staff should have had a bit of an inkling that numbers would have been a little thin for Saturday, and "prepped" the Joeys opponents that a shortened version of the game could be on.
