The Season is over. The various U15 and U16 rep teams have finished their programms and the National U16's have been done and dusted. There are typically several inter-school movements resulting from these programmes.

I would anticipate that the player draft is well under way but any movements between schools will not be revealed (for obvious reasons) until new faces pop up on the first School day of 2013.

Right. I saw earlier that CTPE mentioned a NGS type camp at TKS, how many GPS boys are in this type of ARU sponsored training?

Playmaker, The "NGS" type camp at TKS was a Junior Gold Programme (JGP) camp.

For simplicity, consider JGP as a NGS Lite. NGS has 3 sessions per week. JGS has one session per week. Similar material is covered, but obviously with 2 additional sessions per week the NGS covers the material in greater depth.

IIRC there are a fair few AAGPS lads in the various programmes, less those from Joeys who seem to discourage their lads from participating in the ARU programme, most likely because it conflicts with other activities at Joeys.

The lists have yet to be released for participants in the Sydney NGS/JGP.

It would not be unusual for some boys from NSW Country to move to the "big city" schools to board for Senior College years. This is usually for academic, financial or "finishing school" reasons rather than "Rugby career" or "Rugby Scholarship/Bursary" reasons.

There are about 200 boys aged u14s to u17s involved in the Sydney Junior Gold Program which is being conducted at 3 venues on a Sunday morning. The same program is being conducted at 7 other regional venues in NSW and also in other states.

The National Gold Squad (NGS) is one level higher consisting of the best 80 u16 to u18s in Australia and is conducted in capital cities on a more intensive basis - in Sydney 3 afternoons a week.

smells like a school promoted myth to deflect from the fact that he entered in yr10 and went into the 1st's displacing a competent long serving player!
There are many boys from all GPS schools who may come late, who have still had family at the school previously. Sandell from Joey's had an older brother who went through, yet Matt started late. Stacy from King's is 6th generation, on both his father and mothers side. Burke from King's did have a grandfather there (apparently) Connor from King's also had a brother before him, he only started in year 9. There may be a number of reasons for starting late.

Exactly Mr Rugby! My young man only started as a boarder at Newington in Year 11 - despite being enrolled as an embryo! :).

Regardless of his previous schools this was the best time for HIM, for ME and for his future - regardless of rugby! He is 20% higher in his marks at school and is handling his sport commitments well!

In addition it should be noted that his uncle, nephew, and his great uncle all attended the school! His Grandparents ( who are footing the bill! ) couldn't be happier - thank God for the "living will" ! :)
Boys who have history at the different GPS schools, whether it be 1 generation or 6, should not even be considered to be an 'import' if I must put it like that. The amount of history that every one of these schools has is immense, and it's not uncommon for country boarders to have previous family as someone stated earlier.
On other news, did I hear correctly that King's has lost another back, Sam Carter? Anybody know the reason as to why King's has lost it's 2 best outside backs?

Who besides Carter did they lose?

Yes, the Newcastle phenomenon has left after a successful season Kings 2nd XV. He has only lost two games his entire team at TKS, a startling result for the boy. However he has pursued the "tradie life", a source told me this was his "real calling" can anybody confirm?

is this SM you are talking about??? he is a great asset to the school, has a big heart for the college and has the fitness of an a-grade sportsmen season round.

I'm pretty sure Carter played in the ones against Joeys in the 2nd last round at Kings. If he's gone and Jones is also gone I reckon they don't have too many cattle returning from this years firsts, maybe just Tulloch and Davies in the backs and Burke, Bateman and Macalman in the forwards? Who of their 16's might step up?

Joeys depth is looking good in 2013 with the 2nds and 3rds winning premierships this year and a number of 1sts also returning in 2013.
