"Brogan Roods, possibly the most complete player of his generation, will be back for one more year"

Skip to 2:30 probably one of the dirtiest plays ive seen in schoolboy footy, that wasnt the only time that happened in that game either..

Wasnt a fair go by the 7, but i dont think it was dirty. And that was definatley the only dirty play of the game. You must be a joe boy, cause with a 40 something-20 something score line, to have a go at scots for foul play all game is just false

Actually the was 2 other occasions where the Scotts 7 Walters did this sort of thing to Deegan, 1 of those he held him in a headlock in the middle of the feild while Deegan was on the ground, and the play was about 30 metres away, is that not dirty play?

I was at the game, and i have seen the highlights video, that was deleted. He did it once, it was not a headlock, it was a forearm and a word to Deegan. Deegan took it well, it wasnt the smartest or fairest move by the 7 but, you'd expect deegan being a 5/8 in yr 10 to be hassled and romped playing 1st XV.
Walters is a clean fair player, that is the first of anything poor i've seen on his behalf

Ha ha ha ha ha - good hit moon! Whatever happened to Rugbygirl....

That would be the Brogan Roods who excelled for the Australian team last weekend. He won't be back next year ......... he has a contract with the Waratahs waiting for him.

Sadly, King (the Shore 10) won't be back next year, although he could have as he is only 16 or 17, but he's in year 12 and has chosen to go ahead with his life.

Same goes for Rae and Mitchell, two of the Shore forwards.

However, Buckling (2nd row, had an impressive season) will be back, as well as Davies (centre), and they'll be useful.

The whole 2nds forward pack this year, and majority of the backline, was year 11 boys so they'll all be returning, and several boys from the current year 9 and current year 10 are pretty nifty players.

Shore won't be the force that other schools will be, but will remain competitive and I wouldn't be suprised to see either Buckling or Davies, above the rest, make a GPS side.

I must have been watching a different game to you, or maybe i just didn't have the same benefit of the Stanmore tinted black and white glasses that you did. I'm not going to bag the bloke but lets just say that there were a lot of line breaks made in his defensive channel... I think he was initially picked on the wing? He might be better there with fewer defensive decisions to make.

I watched the game very closely and didn't see Australia's best front rower - MacKenzie Kulen - anywhere on the field. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree about the relative merits of the players !!

No one excelled for Australian schools. I would be surprised if there was a future Super 15 player amongst them and I am confident there was not a test player. Roods future lies at hooker.

Give Australian Schools team a break. England U/18s played 10 matches while the Aussies schools team had been together for 4 days.

I think that the shore 2nds team was quite impressive this season even though their results didn't reflect a successful season. I think they may be a bit of a dark horse next year if they get their acts together....

Ahem..... have a look here http://austschools.rugbynet.com.au/default.asp?id=186098 for the revised group for the NZ fixtures...

Seems like someone involved with the schoolboys set up finally realised that you need props who can scrummage rather than props who are ball players. At least they got there in the end even if it took them about 3 months longer than it needed!

Interesting to see Cameron Clarke there - I know he's talented, but has he actually played much this year?

As for the England game, a little perspective is helpful. Almost always, when Australia tours at schoolboy level, they whack England, and when England comes here, they whack us. And the reasons are the same as they ever were: the touring team has the advantage of much better preparation, plus there's a slight age difference in favour of the tourists. Only once in 37 years has the Australian Schools side beaten England in Australia (against a 5-2 record on tour in England). generally when they come here they thump us by being more physical and better prepared. It's just what happens, I'm afraid.

You'd have to agree that Newington did not live up to expectations and might have been due for a bagging.

Agree that they had a disappointing season, but don't believe they deserve to be 'bagged'. Certainly not with intensity and systematic belittling. Joeys have been similarly treated by some posters, yet finished the season with an 87 percent winning ratio
