Sad thing is that this isn't the only schoolboy game or ground where they have problems with drunk and abusive old boys.

I have been to many CAS, ISA and other school grounds over about the last 20 years and seen quite a few ugly drunken scenes. Trinity Grammar had a particularly ugly one there a few years ago when a fight erupted in the crowd on the side line.

St Pius used to have a regular drunken crowd watching, but consistently probably the two worst in my experience are/were St Aloysius and Waverley.

The problem with the Joeys View game is that the crowd is so big and the game so high profile that the schools don't like the look it gives them when there is crowd trouble... That is my perception anyway. They are not that bothered about how it inconveniences everyone else, they are just protecting themselves.

Agree with you. Drunk old boys masquerading as supporters of schoolboy rugby is wrong and should be dealt with properly by headmaster. Worst I've seen in CAS are St Aloysius (on the far touch line) and Waverly.

This is a big bugey game for View. I have a feeling they might come off second best. Fingers crossed i'm wrong

Going by how Kings got thrashed against Hills in the Waratah Shield match the other day, with an apparently 1st choice side, I don't think that View has much to worry about.

Isn't drinking alcohol on school grounds or at a junior sporting event a criminal offence?

Nah, as long as the grounds are private property or the public grounds don't have a "No Alcohol Consumption" sign up. Very few public grounds do.

New are primed for a big one, despite the season being a disappointment so far. Mind you, hats off to Scots for a superb defensive effort last week - New were held up over the line four times.

Young Tepai is stepping up for his first First Xv game this week. He terrorised Scots last week in the Second XV and bagged 3 tries in the process.

What position is he playing? And is Baldwin fit or is he resting to be ready for Schoolboys?

Will be interesting to see if New can overcome Joeys and Kings in the coming weeks, especially now that they are only playing for second place at best. Joeys will want revenge after their 50 point embarrassment of last season.

Scots beat Shore 39-37. TSC scored In the corner and Harry Boileau kicked the conversion to win the game. Defense was not a big feature it seems.

Thats debatable, score was 32 all and then scots scored in the corner on last play. And Andrew Kellaway missed the conversion.

New defeated Grammar by 59-14 in a tradesmanlike performance. Young Tepai handled his first grade debut with style and played strongly. Should hold his place for the rest of the season.

Mate, i am going to agree with you. I am a Ex Scots boys and as you watch more and more rugby you see it happen often. Shore are a good team and they certainly deserve a lot more victories then they have. The luck that began to fall against them in the last 20 minutes was almost comical. But in the end, good teams win and have the mental edge to win. The Scots boys were blasted in the first 60 minutes. Horwitz was dominated by headgeared second rower buckling, time after time hit very very hard. Contrastingly the loss of inspirational captain Walters provided shores 10 with ample amount of room. But the usual suspects stood up for Scots in the unforgiving minute. Miller's hit ups would be close to 20, Stewart 5 runs, 5 line breaks.

My takeaways where [1] a team of good players almost got done by a team of spirited guys; and [2] the dummy runner is allowed to interfere with the defense. :-( I watched the warmups and they were chalk and cheese - one team coached by a group of gentlemen that seemed to be more than a bunch of disinterested teachers doing their Saturday penance. :) BTW the Shore 16A's are coached by a current 2nd grader/ex-1st grader. Jim Stewart was a standout/game breaker - hope he plays somewhere other than Uni next year. Breakaway Miller? good but not dominant - Baraket great in attack. For Shore Merriman and Creer were good.

Think you'll probably find this is a one off for tepai and he will drop back to 2nds or even 16s for rest of year.

...scots were in complete control from the moment they hit the lead for the first time in the 72nd minute.....lol.....their handling was pretty bad in the first half; and they managed to kick a penalty dead from about shore's 35 to stop one drive - think that's what happened, shore fed the scrum restart at the point the penalty had been given; looked a bit like scots thought the result was pre-ordained until 10/15 mins from the end....shore resilient, persistent; one great try scored from deep in their own half, made by a long pass that cut out maybe 3 defenders.....is their a better setting for a rugby game that that ground ?......

Nice summation - all on all a good game!

Kings 31
Riverview 41

Kings led 14-0 within 10 mins but riverview held it together to pile on try after try - kings played well seems they are a but underrated - should be mentioned that riverview missed at least 5 kicks though but still an entertaining game

Despite what was mentioned on here it wasn't the complete Kings 1st XV who played against Sports High - more like their development team for next year.

Given that Trinity put 70 points on Knox today it will be interesting to see how many Hills put on them next week!

Shame Scots or View arent in it as well as they are clearly the two best teams in NSW this year.

BWF I think you'll find that the majority of their team for next year may more likely come from their 16As. Apparently undefeated in all games this year and I've heard that their winning run continued today with a 31-0 win over Riverview. Can't quite believe that scorline and it probably needs to be verified as the Riverview 16As are a quite a good side.

Buckling played amazingly against Scots 1st XV, dominated Horwitz in contact, wouldn't be suprised to see him make a good GPS selection next year if he improves his conditioning / size.
