NSW AAGPS 2026 (banter and commentary)

Gentlemen,

I know it's rather early, but have we some predictions for the 2026 AAGPS Season?

Have some schools begun Pre-Season Trainings already?

I truly believe the Shore School is poised to deliver a dominant season, especially after enduring one that was undeniably disappointing. In saying that, I am confident that the cattle from Joeys and Riverview also have the resilience and capability to rebound and deliver exceptional performances.

Very early prediction would say View and Joeys have a number of returning players from top squads plus dominate ages in 16s coming in.

Simplistic view of it as a lot of people had view as a mid table side this year at best and Shore up the top so who knows until the season proper games begin. Trial form should also be taken with a grain of salt.

It's great to see the Forum fostering a truly homely atmosphere which all can participate and appreciate! Im just itching for the footy season to be back already (I know it's only been a few weeks).
Hopefully the Joker and those who brilliantly run this Glorious Forum can get a Death Grip on the trolls who disrupt our vibrant community.
Anyways,
Welcome back Ma Brotha

Wow. The one and only Meaty Micheal. I'm starting to itch with Foster with excitement just thinking about it.
As anticipation builds, it feels as though the "deadly death grip" of curiosity has well and truly taken hold. While dramatic in name, it simply captures the intensity of my eagerness to see how things will unfold from here. It's a rare and invigorating feeling, and I welcome it wholeheartedly.

I think RA also has a plan that they will select players from the French sides for Aus 20s. Maintain the relationship and mooch their system. Some may come back, but with the relaxing of the Giteau Law they could be captured from France depending on who Aus declare as the 2nd national side. If I was Waugh I'd be tempted to make the 20s a capture side for the next 2-3 years then revert back to Aus A.
I think it is the perfect dev pathway for rugby AU; the tahs and super clubs aren't forced to spend huge money on teenagers straight out of school. The kids get a amazing experience living in Europe and making great money. We can still select them for the gold jersey. Once they get homesick or they want to consistently play for the wallabies, a super club can sign them.

You may lose a homerun type talent like Lemoto/Skelton as the French clubs won't just give away top players, but at least now we have no problem selecting them for the Wallabies.

A large part of the view toward 2025 Shore was based on 2024 Shore rather than some rational analysis of factors.

I think there should be a bit more questions around returning players, coaches, programs, etc to create a more universally informed judgement of the 2026 season.

Who do we believe have the stronger year 10 (2025) cohorts that will excel in 2026?
I'd like to believe that Shore and Scots will have the strongest year 11 cohorts next year. But I think depth says otherwise, as we know that there are 6/7 boys from both Joeys and Riverview who have already had experience playing in the opens. Kids like Hannon, Brown (William), Conna, and Bull will respectively lead their teams and excel.

Hey Butler Boy to the Mind! I admire this great idea, although someone who I shall not speak of mocked me when I asked for an early prediction, Kings should get it down this year.

The view of the 2025 Shore squad was definitely based on the reputation of the 2024 squad as the belief that so many key returning figures were set to takeover in their final of schooling. I don't believe anyone should be under question other than the players who didn't show up.

View won 9 games I believe, and Joeys has an abundance of year 10s in the opens. But I believe it’s a very tight age group between teams and almost all have a year 10 in the 1s or 2s… So it will be interesting.
