Shore displayed a great start to the game going up 12-0 after two fast tries. But Scott’s stayed in the fight and of the back of the scrum I believe the 13 scored two individual tries. Shores forwards were dominant in set piece and ball carrying, however Scott’s backs kept finding holes in shores defensive line

thanks SPY. We are completely in the hands of the well-intentioned members of this forum to report scores, and another member reported Kings 26-5. So do I toss a coin?

What a round, just want to higlight Rory O'Connor who I believe is the form player of the competition as of right now. Has he got another year next year at Joeys? Looks a very big frame, who can move well with a very good skillset. Could be looking at a very big future.
Elsewhere, Julian Minto continues to shine, and is in my opinion, the best player in his year in the country. Very excited to see what he can do with the rest of his season, as well as the next two years of his schoolboy rugby.
Finally, anyone else think Heinz is a bit wasted at 12? Didn't get as involved from a carrying perspective, especially off first phase which is where Scots seemed to use him a lot last week. Scots a team who look very flawed in structure, but wow they are arguably the best team in out of structure play - a number of freakish individual talents who can seem to make nothing out of something. In contrast to last week, where I believe they were unlucky to lose, I would say this week they were lucky to win - very clutch from Oscar Tremlett.

“I started watching school boys rugby again recently, great to watch. Was watching Shore play at Scotts today and the Scotts clock on the scoreboard might need a service? I watched 4 games:
16a's - Shore in front when clock run down. Ref played an extra 5 odd minutes and Scotts scored on the death to win.
3rd's - Shore in front when clock ran down. Shore kicked the ball backwards and out thinking end of the game and ref played on for another 3 -4 minutes (apparently there was 2 seconds left when the ball went out). Scotts scored on the death but was 2 points short of a win.
At the end of this game a mum questioned why the clock ran down and several more plays were allowed in the game. A dad said 'the scoreboard clock keeps running and the ref's watch is what counts'. The ref was right in front of us during this conversation and he did not appear to have a watch?? But he somehow knew there were a few seconds left and yes, I understand that the game can often go longer than the scoreboard clock because of the ref can stop his watch for stoppage of play..
2nd's - Scotts in front with 3 minutes to full time (according to scoreboard clock). Ref called full time with 2.32 left on score board clock ... to give Scotts the win. I really don't understand how the scoreboard clock can still have time on it if it does not stop for play stoppage?
1st's - Shore in front when score board clock was frozen with 2.00 minutes left. I set my timer. Ref allowed another 6 minutes or so from then and Scotts was awarded a penalty in front of the goals - which they kicked and won the game by a point.
It felt like - Scotts behind, play overtime. Scotts in front, shut game down early. I expect the refs are independent (?) so not saying this is the case, but can anyone help explain this or is it just one of Rugby's mysteries.... like scrums.”

Whilst we all get fired up, any objective analysis of yesterday’s results reveals an amazingly competitive and healthy comp in which at round 3 literally any of the six teams are conceivable premiership winners.
Hats off to all the teams involved for an absolutely scintillating round of rugby.
Joeys and Kings to be commended for their pitches as well - all others buy some ag pipe and fix your bloody drainage!

To be fair I watched the ref stop the clock multiple times in the 1sts game due to incidents and injuries. I felt the time was about right in that game.

Like the gov dropping findings of an inquest the same day some salacious rumour about V’landys (the horse racing guy).
All swept under the rug.
Would love some feedback around the Joeys v New game.

Scots 5 seems to be juggling and in control of ball when hit by clean out from Shore.
Frustrated by hit but no place for his reaction. Accept the 2 weeks and move on.
Pity as he was playing well.
As for New at Joeys, witnessed the New crowd and they will get a tune up this week and let’s also move on.
No place for any of this in Rugby at any level.

A tough very even game yesterday.
The New side would be the largest I have ever seen. It looked like gullivers travels.
New had a very specific strategy of going from set piece to set piece. They slowed the game down and controlled the pace of it.
Joeys also let them do this by kicking the ball back to the repeatedly and the new 15 and 10 and 12 are class and nearly always won the kicking.
Initially news forwards of new made it count and joeys had trouble stopping them pretty much every time they got into joeys 22 they got points.
Joeys made ground and scored points through their backs. The scrum surprisingly was even.
The post contact meters of the new pack meant that the 9 and 10 jad time to do what they wanted. Their backline is sharp.
There were some brilliant individual tries, the new 12 and the joeys 15 who bull dozed his way down the touchline.
Joeys led for most of the first half by 1-3 points, but, the last play of half time say an opportunistic try that the new wing scored and it was not the league player.
Joeys scored straight away in the second half but the goal kicking was hard but missing whereas News was on point and not. He only missed one the entire game.
In second half new scored two consecutive tries as Joeys continued to kick and get punished for it.
Because New would take short breaks on every scrum and lineout and get into a huddle and then clap, coupled with joeys kicking which slowed the game down meant new did not tire.
Joeys then decided to run, and keep the ball in hand and hile new was well ahead, their forwards started to gag. The New coach ramped up his yelling at the ref and touchie from the sideline.
Joeys forwards started making meters. Scoring close range tries. It felt like the comeback was on.
Here the ref had a say and justice was very upset about it. Joeys mauled from a lineout and were making meters at will and then it sheared and continued and the ref got someone for obstruction. Some heads dropped New kicked and the ball took a few wicked bounces and the new 4 ended up scoring in the corner. A very fortuitous try that reminded me of the joeys scots 2018 last play.
The last 5 with Joeys training was all joeys. They missed a simple penalty kick scored and closed the gap to 1 but it was not to be. Ironically, it ended with someone from joeys kicking the ball back to new and new let it go dean. The scrum was the last play of the day.
Things I saw.
1. This is the largest schoolboy side I have seen and the pacific presence was very very evident which did not exist in the other grades 16A's aside.
2. New in 1-2's were very well drilled at the breakdown very good at slowing your ball and keeping you away from theirs
3. New's backs the 10,12 and 15 were all as good as Joeys.
4. Either side who lost would have thought they should have won it. New did enough to get the chocolates but it was not comfortable.
5. For Joeys the whole forward pack played well and direct. The side looked best with the ball in play and keeping it close rather than spreading it from side to side.
6. The Joeys centres are strong rather than deceptive. They play the same way and are a bit one dimensional. The back 3 were all class.
7. Goalkicking is going to be important. Both Joeys 10's in 1st and seconds have alot of work to do here. The fact is that if you move the kicking accuracy across from New to Joeys, Joeys win and win by more than 1 or 2. The seconds scoreline greatly understates the dominance joeys had because so many conversions were missed.
8. Hard to judge the joeys 9-10 combination as so much of their ball was slow first phase or back foot.
9. Joeys needs to learn that kicking your possession away only works if you make the kicks contestable or you are gaining real ground. Neither happened yesterday.
It was brutal, If the game went another 10, joeys would have won it. maybe not even that long. There will be alot of sore boys at Joeys this morning. There was alot of shock on their faces at the end. Whoever they play next has a big opportunity.
This New side will be beaten by sides that like to run and keep the ball in play for extended periods, and having the caption query the 'short breaks' at each lineout and scrum. If you want to play set piece footy, beware. They will play that all day and are very very good at it.
New Controlled the tempo, the deserved the chocolates.
