NSW AAGPS 2025

ReturnOfTheReets

Frank Row (1)
The AAGPS tipping comp is up again.

I am once more happy to do this job. I have time on my hands as I am now medically retired.
In the past this has been a lot of fun and each year we see winners come from many backgrounds.
Last year it was a schoolboy who won (won't reveal the school)

Question?

Would like to participate this season.
Entries close on WEDNESDAY before round 1.
Just reply with an indication of wanting to join.

There are limited places again this.
In 2025 I will be deleting tippers who miss three rounds in a row.
When this happens I will invite those who missed out to join and they will start with the points of the deleted tipper.

A reminder on how this works...

TIPPING comp entries close WEDNESDAY 14 May @5pm .
I'm keen to join @Joker

Not sure about the forwards, but the backline is.
9. Makoto Chapman
10. Harry Harper
11. Ed Morrison
12. Joe Fenwicke
13. Denver Purdon
14. Campbell Whalan
15. Cooper Fakafonua

Still the likes of Levi strong and Thomas Aroyan to come back. Not much depth in the halves if those two go down.
Makoto played mostly in the B's last Saturday against New as did another 'new to Kings' player Lachlan Kable. Both had a 10 minute run in the A's but will find themselves permanently in the A's very soon, if not this weekend.
With the return of Levi, Thomas and Ruari Basten, the Kings U16 side is looking quite strong.

Would be good for this age group if he did join.

this 16s age group is notablely weaker then all its other year group, looking at 13s,14s and 15s they are quite strong in particular that 15s side. The 10 Perrett is levels above is age and will potentially play 2s this year.
Not so sure about Kings 16s age group being notably weaker, the season will tell as always.

Kings lead all day until the final minute (lost 10-12) against a physically strong NC team on the weekend enhanced by two new Genblue U14s players the year prior. Kings had 6 of their best not starting or injured, all of which were with Next Gen U15s or in the final 3 U16s cuts from the Kings opens squad this year.

Last year Kings U15s lost by a conversion (5-7) in the last minute against Riverview who beat Joeys the next week. I believe all other Kings games were close other than Joeys last year.

I would says all 2024 U15s teams were competitive including Scots when they played the full team back from Glengarry. Agree Joeys and Riverview were the strongest (mainly better team cohesion, and execution of structure). This year if Joeys/Riverview have a couple of the best players in the Opens, and Kings/New/Shore/Scots have improvements, the competition is wide open this year. All teams could foreseeably finish last or first.

The 6th is Kiju Kim, Kings prep boy and starting Loosehead from the dominant scrum of the State Championship winning Two Blues.

Where is Rex bass in this, i know he is currently injured and out till round 5 but still. Haven't heard of Risati before is he in y11, Grover will add some good experience to this side and I imagine will lead the team very well, Overall good selection.

There will be 1 or 2 bolters but making the 2nd XV doesn't hurt your chances of higher honours with the depth in the comp.

Interesting to see Ghattas at 7 for Joeys. If a permanent move he will push for a spot and potentially shift Taumoepeau to 6. You also have Dempsey at View who is always a top 3 player on the field and good for a few tries which keeps names in mouths.

4-8 jersey numbers are fairly interchangeable for the GPS sides and can be about getting guys on the field.

Surely you jest, he was playing first XV at Kings last year when he was in year 10. This kid is a genuine superstar and more importantly, a down-to-earth yoI
I didn't take much notice to kings last year, they weren't there in terms of expectations from 2023, as it always is an uphill battle coming back from a prem winning season. Definitely heard the name in waratahs 16s before but i will try keep a closer eye on him.

Predicted AAGPS 1st XV

Hey Gents, The Bee here back for another season, this is a rough AAGPS 1st Predicted team.

1) Bloomfield (K)
2) Smith (K)
3) Lavercombe (K)
4) Galigan (E)
5) Fonua (K)
6) Lemoto (S)
7) Dempsey (I)
8) Taumoepeau (J)
9) Grover (I)
10) O Large (S)
11) Makanisini (N)
12) Gough (J)
13) Risati (K)
14) King (N)
15) Callaghan (E)

I heard something happened to Sheck from Newington on Saturday so have Bloomfield in there. Incase Bassingwathe comes back I would move Large to 13 and Risati to fullback. Push King out and put Callaghan in 14. I haven't been keeping up with trials so unsure what the ladder will look like this season, may the best team win. Go Scots.

A spot up for selection is 10 with the likes of Ben Sawyer and Bede Fogarty I believe really fighting for it if Bassingwathe is not back.

Get keen for the season to start and please let me know your thoughts....

- The Bee
I would switch Fonua to #6, Heinz Lemoto to #8 then justice to #7 and number #5 ????? not quite sure

Bit late to the party i know but what has happened to the Scots college, a school who holds themselves to the highest standards of grounds, rugby and behaviour of their boys. For them to be smashed by Auggies in an absolute domination asks the questions surrounding Scots place in the GPS as we've all known for a while who the real bottom dweller of the competition is. I havent been able to comprehend the Scots backing although i know they have a lot of loyal old boys, surely some are starting to see problems regarding the board and overall operation of their school. Some changes need to be made.
